Kings vs. Pelicans Preview: Sacramento, Signing Off

It’s the final home game for the Sacramento Kings and they’re looking to put a bow on a magical season with a win against the Pelicans!
By | 0 Comments | Apr 7, 2019

Well, the time has come for the city of Sacramento to say good-bye to the best thing in town for yet another season. Yes, today is the final home contest in the 2018-2019 calendar of affairs and with the playoffs out of reach, and no way to play spoiler today, I guess all there is left to do is WATCH THE KINGS GO FOR THEIR FORTIETH VICTORY OF THE GODDAMN SEASON! Is it going to be easy? HELL NO. NOTHING THE KINGS DO IS EVER EASY- actually I find parking on game days is an absolutely breeze with the use of the SacPark-BUT THATS GETTING OFF POINT! THE KINGS HAVE A SHOT AT REDEMPTION AS THEY TAKE ON A TEAM THAT THEY POOPED THE BED AGAINST JUST TEN DAYS AGO, AND I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, THAT REDEMPTION WOULD MEAN FORTY WINS ON THE SEASON FOR THE KINGS.

FORTY.

FOUR.

TEE.

WINS.

Let’s talk Kings basketball possibly winning forty games this season!

When: Sunday, April 7th; 6 pm PST

Where: Golden 40 Center, Sacramento CA

TV: NBCSCA

Radio: KHTK Sports 1140 AM

Forty Your Consideration

Hey How Many Wins Do the Kings Have If They Win Today?( FOURTY): So I’ve said this a couple times this season in fits of self-disclosure: I was absolutely certain that the ceiling for this team was 23 games. THE CEILING. Fox was supposed to be too raw, Bagley was supposed to prove right away that he was the wrong pick (still might be, definitely WAAY better than ever expected, yay for everyone), and the pieces around the Kings were too mishmashed and too devoid of anything shaped like a forward, yet smaller. I don’t need to expound on my idiocy too far, only that I am pumped to be wrong.

Let’s talk about the game shall we? The Pelicans are losers in 12 of their last 14 contests, and since beating the Kings back on the 28th of March, they’ve rolled off another 3 losses, two to the Lakers and Suns and have basically shut down every player that can fog a mirror. They’re playing with third stringers, G-Leaguers and one superstar who is legally bound to a contract to play for the New Orleans Pelicans until they release or trade him. That last guy is probable to play tonight after some back issues, and if he does suit up, it’ll be his third to last appearance in a Pelicans uniform.

For Sacramento fans attending the game tonight, there’s also some lasts for you tonight as well. Here’s a list of guys who you could be seeing in their final home game for the Kings:

Alec Burks

Corey Brewer

Willie Cauley-Stein

Kosta Koufos

Celebrate, mourn: Do with that info as you will.

This season has been the half-empty bottle of water that a limp, desert-weary fanbase has needed to keep everything from completely falling apart. Here’s to next year and the water cooler up over that next sand dune.

Also, as one final note, seeing as how Saturday night is the last home game this season, it also means that this is the last game of the season that we’ll have Sactown Royalty’s resident visual artist / titan of photography Kimani Okearah at the game. This guy supplies most of the amazing pictures you see on a daily basis at Sactown Royalty and deserves far more praise and cheers than I can ever give myself. Please if you see him floating around the interwebz, congratulate the man on another successful season of his art. Oh also if you have the means HIRE THIS DUDE. For now, Kimani, thank you for your time, your art and your endless dedication this season!

Prediction

Kings: 40 wins, Pelicans: Less Wins, But I wish them the best
