Oh, hey! Didn’t expect you to show up in the preview for this game. What? What do you mean why? Tonight’s match-up between the twenty-two win Dallas Mavericks and the twenty-four win Sacramento Kings features two of this season’s very worst in all of professional basketball. Yes, tonight, The Kings of Crap and the Mavericks of the Moribund come together to fight a battle no one can win, only survive. Fans of these two team know that with each victory sliding the team further from a future star and a defeat further dooming the franchises’ reputation for repudiation of other’s winning ways, there can be no true silver linings. These are lead-ladened clouds.

You’re in the Kingbayashi Mavru test now, baby!

For Your Consideration

No Malice Against Dallas: I’m actually pretty proud of Dallas for fully embracing the tank this year. More than few times we’ve seen the Mavericks walk into the off season like lions and come out like lambs, and Mark Cuban’s checkbook filled with the names of players much closer to being out of the league than in an NBA All-Star Game. These Deron Williams types weren’t terrible, but weren’t enough to get the Mavs anywhere but stuck in the quagmire that is the lower end of the playoff pack in the Western Conference. I’m not saying they’ve been terrible; I’m a Kings fans. They’ve just never did hit that huge second star homer they’ve been looking at since their magical championship run in 2011. They nearly had Chris Bosh, nearly had De’Andre Jordan but haven’t really put one over the wall, even in the hostage situation with the Warriors that netted them Harrison Barnes.

The Mavericks do have pieces. Dennis Smith Jr. is the point guard I most coveted at our spot last year and has played well for being a rookie point guard. The aforementioned Barnes is their leading scorer and best player and someone who could be the third best player on a championship team. But that’s their problem. They’ve got two core pieces, a superstar in the twilight of his career and a bunch of guys that would be fantastic 7th-9th men off the bench for a good team. The Nerlens Noel experiment has failed, and now its time for them to get into the top of this draft and grab themselves one from the bushel of talented bigs.

For those of you hoping for the Kings to get back in the the top few picks, here’s the single stat I can point out to you that points to the Kings losing the game tonight: Dallas attempts the 5th most three’s in the NBA and shoots over 36% from deep. The Kings are historically bad at guarding the three..like literally the worst three point defending team in NBA history.

I’m saying there’s a chance.

Prediction: No chance the Kings lose this.

Kings: 104, Mavs: 92
