Hey, Happy Monday! Did you hear our .500 record Kings are in Miami tonight to take on the Heat? Yes, the holders of a 3-2 record, team of Dwyane Wade for one final season, owned by Sacramento Kings point guard, De’Aaron Fox, the Heat come into this season in between their building of a championship level squad, a seemingly perennial sixth seed, with young pieces and aging vets waiting for that final big catch before vying again for supremacy of the Eastern Conference. Ask anyone here; this showing is always one of the most difficult single games for the Kings each year, because of Miami’s umm… homecourt… advantage and while the Kings drag an absolutely dismal overall record against the Miami Heat in Miami, maybe I can refresh your memory on what happened the last time the Kings came into town with this little highlight here.

If Sacramento loses this one in sloppy fashion, I demand the post game recap be called “Stupor Team, Just Drunk”.

Going Away with Wade: The Heat come into tonight’s battle against the Kings as winners in three of their last four games. It’s early in the season, so I don’t mind listing off their wins and losses to get a sense of how good they might be tonight. They lost games against Orlando and Charlotte by a combined four points, and then taken wins from Washington, New York and most recently, Portland. This team is a couple of shots from being 5-0 on the season, and are at home in one of the toughest away spots in the league. I know that it’s easy to say this again and again, but odd and unexpected times call for mudane, repetitious claims: if the Kings come out and beat this Miami team IN Miami, I think they’re headed for 35 plus wins this year. There are too many positive things that shouldn’t be happening with the Kings that are, and with Bogdan Bogdanovic returning soon to plug the Kings largest hole, it’s not hard for any pundit to have to go back and erase that drawing board of things everyone knows about how the Kings will fare this year.

So a little info on the Heat thus far: the usual suspects are leading this team in scoring as Goran Dragic is at 19 points per game, with Josh Richardson backing him up just shy of 18 points a game. Rodney McGruder, a feel good story that has slipped through most radars the last few years, is averaging a career high 16 points per game as well. As a team, the Heat are 18th in the league in scoring at 111.2 points per game and are the 6th stingiest defense; allowing for 105.4 points per game. I … I have to go back for a second. The Heat are in the bottom half of the league in scoring right now. The bottom half. Go back and check how many points I said they score a game. The NBA this year, ladies and gentlemen.

Last little thing here that I didn’t want to gloss over: this will be the last time we see the Kings take on Dwyane Wade at home in Miami. Fifteen years this man has been in the NBA acting as the scrappy underdog, the vanquishing hero, the league ruining villain. I’ll be sad to see him out of the NBA, regardless of how often I was forced to root against the man, and how often I found myself cheering for him anyways.

(Friday, February 8th will be the last time to ever see him against the Kings in Sacramento)

What I Have to Say: If you’re dead set on watching a movie instead of the Kings possibly getting above .500, go drop $13 and see the new A Star Is Born. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper both turn in nuanced, unbelievable-yet-believable performances and Cooper absolutely crushes his directorial debut. Also, stay behind for the post-credits sequence where an eyepatched Barbara Streisand shows up with a robotic Judy Garland in hopes of recruiting Lady Gaga to the Starforce, whose mission we’ll just have to see in the team up movie.

Beno Udrih 2.0 can’t stay in front of De’Aaron Fox the whole game, Willie Cauley-Stein beats up on Hassan Whiteside and Marvin Bagley III is the one who gets a signature dunk tonight and Doug Christie makes an assortment of sounds loud in response. Bam Adebayo fans fall deeper in love with him in his time off the bench. Harry Giles takes that new love headed Bam’s way and blocks it into the fourth row.
