The Sacramento Kings have won two straight, each of them close games at home against bad teams. Now the Kings go on the road (ding) to face a good team (ding) that is desperate for a win (ding ding ding).
The Memphis Grizzlies have lost three straight in blow-out fashion. There are reports of the team's chemistry falling apart as the new owner and CEO, Robert Pera and former Kings assistant GM Jason Levien, took Mike Conley and Marc Gasol out to dinner while leaving Rudy Gay and Zach Randolph out. (What, Marreese Speights wasn't invited either? SMH.)
Chances are the Grizz will be looking for blood. But the Kings have been playing hard and executing somewhat well much of the time. Jimmer Fredette had a big second half on Wednesday, and DeMarcus Cousins and Tyreke Evans have both been performing. The challenge against a tough Memphis defense will be to limit turnovers (watch that dribble!) and get shots inside. Memphis is meh on offense — they don't have shooting power behind a couple of guys — but Z-Bo and Marc in the paint are tough against anyone. Jason Thompson should be critical in this one.
The game's at 5 p.m. Pacific on Comcast SportsNet California and 1140 AM. Fan predictions will be along soon, with a game thread at 5 and a recap to follow. Check out Straight Outta Vancouver for info on the Grizz.
