Kings fight back from big deficit but come up just short in 103-102 loss to Clippers

Sacramento fought their way back from a 20 point deficit, but big shots by Chris Paul down the stretch carried the Clippers to victory.

Sacramento played one of their better games of the season, but it wasn't enough to overcome Chris Paul and the Clippers.  Paul had 22 points and 9 assists, and hit some absolutely huge shots down the stretch to keep the Kings from getting the upset.

DeMarcus Cousins had a monster game for Sacramento with 23 points, 19 rebounds and 7 assists.  He had the chance to win the game at the end, but his last second shot came up well short.

Sacramento got off to a rough start, getting outscored 29 to 13 in the first quarter.  That 16 point deficit grew to 20 points early in the second quarter before the Kings started making a run of their own.  Isaiah Thomas and Patrick Patterson were key reasons why the Kings were able to come back from that deficit.  Thomas had 22 points and 5 assists, and Patterson had his best game of the season with 21 points and 7 rebounds.

Sacramento led by as many as five points in the final quarter.  Luc Mbah a Moute provided some stellar defense on Chris Paul, but Paul was able to hit some incredibly tough shots, including a fallaway three as the shot clock expired that tied the game.

The game definitely got a little chippy, with both DeMarcus Cousins and Blake Griffin receiving technical fouls.  Travis Outlaw was ejected in the third quarter after flagrantly fouling him on a breakaway layup by wrapping him around the neck.  Outlaw meant no malicious intent, but the flagrant-2 was definitely warranted.

The Kings will stay in Los Angeles as they play the other team that shares the arena with the Clippers tomorrow.  The Kings will also meet the Clippers for a rematch in Sacramento next Friday.
