Last night's Kings vs. Warriors game wasn't the high scoring affair many of us had come to expect, but it was a hard fought game that came down to the final possessions. Warriors guard Klay Thompson, who missed a game-winning attempt against the Kings earlier this season, made up for it by nailing a three with 7.5 seconds left to put Golden State up 85-83. Tyreke Evans missed a layup attempt to tie it at the other end in a possession in which he felt he was fouled. Golden State got the rebound and made their own free throws to seal the deal. Thompson ended up leading Golden State with 20 points, albeit on just 6-17 shooting.

Both teams shot exceedingly poorly, finishing under 40% from the field. Golden State made just 36.0% of their attempts and Sacramento was not much better at 39.8%. Sacramento did make six more field goals than Golden State, but saw a vast disparity at the free throw line, where the Warriors had 29 attempts to just 12 for the Kings.

Golden State saw most of it's production come from it's starters. David Lee finished with a 17 point, 10 rebound double-double, and rookie Harrison Barnes added 12 points on 5-11 shooting. The only bench player to score more than 3 points for the Warriors was Jarrett Jack, who had 12.

The Kings had the opposite problem, relying on their bench to keep them in the game. The only Sacramento starter who had a legitimately good game was forward Jason Thompson, who scored 17 points to go with 8 rebounds. DeMarcus Cousins had another terrible performance from the field, scoring just 5 points on 10 shots. He played just 20 minute during that time.

Sacramento's bench kept them in the game and nearly won it. Patrick Patterson had his finest performance as a King, scoring 15 points on 6-10 shooting (including 3-3 from downtown) to go with 8 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal and a block in about 28 minutes. Patterson's three in the final minute put the Kings up 83-82. Guard Toney Douglas didn't shoot as well as Patterson, going just 3-9 from the field, but he did add 10 points, 6 assists and 2 steals, playing some solid defense on Stephen Curry, who was just 3-11 from the field and had 6 turnovers.

Marcus Thornton's streak of 20 point games came to a halt as he finished with 9 points on 3-8 shooting.

The Kings will now have a day off before playing another Pacific Division opponent on Friday in the Phoenix Suns. The Suns have managed to beat Sacramento in double-digit comebacks twice this season. The Kings are currently tied with the Suns, Hornets and Timberwolves in the win column, a battle for worst in the West.
