Coming into this game, it was all about the tank. Tank this, tank that, whatever you said about this game, the word tank came to mind.

The pro-tank fans will surely not be happy with this one. The anti-tank fans enjoyed an ugly win. The neutrals watched a substandard game. But if you were a neutral watching this game, I have questions.

The first quarter was as ugly as they come. The only moment that was really notable was Skal Labissiere’s hard fall off the attempted alley-oop. He got back up and played some more, but was later ruled out for the rest of the game. The first quarter would end with a high scoring affair of 22-14.

The second quarter was practically a repeat of the first, except the Orlando Magic actually scored! The halftime score was at a whopping 41-36. That’s the end of a first quarter score if two good teams are playing.

The third quarter featured real scoring and some real basketball. The Kings scored 33 points, almost eclipsing the amount that the Magic scored in a whole half.

The fourth quarter final buzzer was the most notable storyline from the period. Jonathan Isaac losing the ball out of bounds on a wide-open fastbreak summed up this one.

Best Performers

Garrett Temple: The veteran loves him some Magic. He led the way in scoring against Orlando again, this time scoring 23 in 30 minutes. He shot 7/10 from the field including four threes.

Kosta Koufos: Koufos played 38 minutes in the absence of Willie Cauley-Stein, but got the better of Nikola Vucevic. An 18 point, 13 rebound performance on 9/12 shooting gives Koufos a great game.

Jack Cooley: I had to do it. The only cool thing about this game was seeing Jack. In his eight minutes, he played eight points on 4/6 shooting and grabbed three rebounds. I loved seeing the crowd and bench go nuts when Cooley would score.

Notable Performers

Almost every other King would fall in this category because they all had a certain stat stand out, so I’ll just list them all:

Bogdan Bogdanovic: He had another horrible shooting game (3/12) for eight points, but his 10 assists led the way.

Frank Mason had an almost triple double, with seven points, six assists and ten rebounds. He shot 2/12 from the field, missing a lot of close looks.

Buddy Hield was a real shocker for me. I expected this game to be a big one for him but he ended up scoring zero points on 0/8 shooting :/

Vince Carter shot 5/11, 2/7 from deep, but had 15 points. Skal Labissiere had eight points and seven rebounds. Justin Jackson had seven points and six rebounds.

Notable Stats

Both teams shot less than 43% from the field. If you missed this game, you saved yourself from watching a terrible shooting performance. #Tank

The Kings out-rebounded the Magic 50-34, out-assisted 24-17, but each team had seven steals. The Magic had more blocks at 4-3. All of the Kings three blocks came in the first quarter. The Kings also had more turnovers and fouls.

Jonathon Simmons led the way for Orlando with 25 points. Vucevic scored 13.
