Kings 83, Wizards 110: Poop Emoji

If you didn’t get to watch this game, be thankful.

Coming into this season, we knew there’d be rough nights. But even still, this sucked.

The Sacramento Kings didn’t look ready for this game from the very start, with Washington scoring the first 13 points of the game and eventually opening up a 21-4 advantage. The Kings ended up down by 31 points at halftime, which was just one less than the total amount they managed to score. As you can tell from the final score, the Kings never really even made a dent in Washington’s lead.

With George Hill and Zach Randolph resting, the Kings went with a very young starting lineup, something we had all wanted to see. It turns out, maybe there’s a reason Dave Joerger wanted to lean on the vets a little bit. The only starter that can be proud of their effort was Bogdan Bogdanovic, who scored 15 points on 7-9 shooting to go with 4 steals, 3 rebounds and an assists. Buddy Hield and Skal Labissiere didn’t score at all until the second half. De’Aaron Fox got his first career start but also had the worst game of his early career, looking outmatched against John Wall and struggling to get anything going, scoring just 2 points on 1-8 shooting.

To put in perspective how badly the Wizards manhandled the Kings, they made more three points (17) than the Kings made Free Throws (13). John Wall alone hit five of them. The Kings also had just 13 assists to 17 turnovers, some of them of the mind-bogglingly stupid variety, but most coming just from how telegraphed their offensive sets are. The Kings take forever to get into their offensive sets, and they also seem to be hesitant at times to take open shots. Bogdanovic was the only one who looked comfortable within the offense, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see if he retains his starting role when Hill and Randolph come back.

There isn’t much else to discuss with this game. If you didn’t watch, be thankful. If you have it on DVR to watch later, delete the recording, unplug your DVR, douse it with gasoline and burn it just to be safe. This was a stinker, and it probably won’t be the last of the season with a team this young and inexperienced.

Sacramento now heads on a three game Eastern conference road trip, starting Thursday in Indiana.
