Minnesota entered the game riding a nine-game losing streak, so naturally they couldn’t miss a single three they attempted and held multiple 20-point leads. The last time these two faced off, they played an awful game of basketball that somehow went to double overtime, but the Wolves broke a long losing streak to win. That theme played its part again as the Kings looked like they would lose. However, Buddy Hield’s ridiculous fourth quarter shooting got eyes back on the screen. The Kings somehow tied this game and went to overtime and through some ridiculous shots from De'Aaron Fox and Bogdan Bogdanovic, the Kings capped off the road trip with a win.

Injury Notes: Marvin Bagley III (foot) is OUT. Richaun Holmes (shoulder) is OUT. Jake Layman (toe) is OUT. Allen Crabbe (knee) is day-to-day but OUT tonight.

Minnesota opened the game by winning the tip and taking an eight-second violation and Sacramento responded by taking a 24-second shot clock violation in honor of Kobe Bryant. Karl-Anthony Towns opened the scoring with a three and Harrison Barnes cut into the basket and made a layup. Towns later hit another three but former T-Wolve Nemanja Bjelica drilled a deep three, only for Andrew Wiggins to respond with his own. Then Shabazz Napier drilled a stepback three from the corner over Bjelica and Minnesota led 17-10. Towns went up to nine points as the Wolves led 20-10, but Buddy Hield came off the bench and immediately made a three. De’Aaron Fox then drove the lane and threw down a one-handed dunk. Buddy made two mid-range jumpers as well to provide a much-needed spark. Minnesota took a 37-21 lead, making every three possible. Hield made another three and the quarter ended 37-24. Yikes.

The second quarter didn’t start well for the Kings as the Wolves were still hot from three and Harry Giles racked up three fouls in six minutes. Kent Bazemore made a corner three to stop the bleeding a bit. After a Robert Covington three, the lead grew to 48-31 and the Wolves were 10-15 from deep. Jordan McLaughlin continued the hot shooting for Minnesota and it was now 51-31, Wolves. Another Buddy three cut the lead to 15 with 5:57 left. Three minutes later, the Kings only scored two points and fell to a 60-40 deficit. Bjelica hit a three, but then Covington would answer. The half would end with Minnesota up 68-50 behind 18 from Covington and 16 from Wiggins, who shot 4-4 from three. Hield led Sacramento with 20 points on 8-12 shooting and Bjelica scored 10 on 4-5 shooting, but nobody else showed up.

Bogdan Bogdanovic had all zeroes across the box score in the first half but finally made a three to start the third. However, Minnesota responded with three threes of their own. They just simply were unstoppable from three. That would be the case for the rest of the quarter as the Kings trailed 97-78 following a Bazemore three at the buzzer.

Minnesota opened the quarter with a three which marked 21 for the game and set a new franchise record. Buddy’s shooting made it somewhat fun to watch but the Kings couldn’t get consistent stops on defense. Somehow, they pulled together enough stops and made a miraculous run to tie the game and send it to overtime.

Both teams exchanged baskets throughout the period, but Fox made two crazy and-1 plays. Bogi tried to one up Fox with a crazy long two of his own. Dewayne Dedmon came up with a clutch rebound as he fell to the floor to secure it and Josh Okogie missed two free throws. Bazemore got the rebound on a potential game-tying attempt by Wiggins and went 1-2 from the line, but one was enough.

Notable Players

Buddy Hield had a pretty remarkable first half, a quiet third quarter but went off in the fourth to make the game close. They don't win this without Hield who poured in a career high 42 points while shooting 9-14 from three along with five rebounds and three assists.

Kent Bazemore provided a nice spark off the bench as well. Bazemore went for 15 points on 4-7 shooting in 21 minutes along with five rebounds.

Nemanja Bjelica had a solid all-around game going for 20 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as he flirted with a triple-double. Bjelica shot 4-6 against his old team.

De'Aaron Fox exploded late in the game and finished with 22 points on 7-17 shooting while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out eight assists. The backcourt was on one tonight.

Notable Stats

The Kings shot 18-40 from three (45%) to the Wolves 23-46 (50%). Somehow the Kings pulled the win out. Sacramento also went 27-34 (79.4%) at the line to the Wolves' 20-33 (60%) mark.

Minnesota grabbed more rebounds at 45-44 and had more assists at 29-27.

Sacramento turned it over 16 times and had 13 fast break points.
