Its preseason, and its in Las Vegas, but that doesn’t mean games can’t be fun. And despite the fact that the Sacramento Kings decided to sit DeMarcus Cousins, Ty Lawson, Omri Casspi, Garrett Temple, and Matt Barnes, this was a pretty entertaining game. The Kings took an 18 point lead at halftime, nearly blew it all in the third quarter, but finished the job in the fourth. The Kings shot 13/21 from three point range (61.9%), and 58.7% overall from the field, notching 31 total assists on their 44 made field goals.
Anthony Tolliver led the Kings with 21 points, all coming from his SEVEN three pointers. Rudy Gay was the Kings’ offensive engine, dropping 19 points, nine rebounds and seven assists with only one turnover, although he wasn’t efficient scoring from the field (6/16 FG for 38%, at a 51.0 TS%). Darren Collison (20 points, seven assists) and Arron Afflalo (16 points) played prominent roles on offense as well.
For the Lakers, D’Angelo Russell was spectacular again, with 31 points and 10 assists. Russell has really matured as a shot-creator; he was able to work in the post, in pick-and-roll, and running off screens. He looks like the total package.
