Jerry Reynolds announced last season that he would no longer be providing color commentary for every Sacramento Kings game, but indicated he would still be involved in broadcasts in a more limited capacity. We now know more details of his involvement. Jerry was recently a guest on the Kings Insider Podcast with James Ham. Jerry and James discussed the team’s performance in preseason and their expectations for the season, as well as Jerry’s role in the NBA Sports broadcast team.

On his role, Jerry confirmed he will be on the pre- and post-game show for 31 home games, and will call 10 home games as the color commentator alongside Grant Napear. This is great news for Kings fans, since we’ll get to enjoy Jerry in some capacity for every home game of the season. The schedule eliminates Jerry’s need to travel, which is great for him and he gets more nights off throughout the season.
Ham also reported that Kayte Christensen is going to be in a more limited role this season since she just had a baby. She’s going to do some studio work, but may not do as much sideline reporting and it sounds like she’ll be doing very little sideline work for road games. I think it’s great that the broadcast is allowing her the flexibility to still be involved but also the ability to stay home with her new baby.
NBA Sports also announced a new app for Kings fans to watch home games on, called My Teams.
