Jabari Parker agrees to two-year, $40 million deal with Bulls

The Kings had been rumored to have interest

Jabari Parker has agreed to a two-year deal with the Chicago Bulls, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The Sacramento Kings had previously been rumored to be interested in Parker, and it was reported yesterday that the Kings may have been offering a deal similar to what Chicago offered.

The Kings could have only offered around $19.5 million per season unless they made other roster moves. Even if the offers were identical Parker very likely would have chosen the Bulls as Parker is originally from Chicago.

The Kings previously made a $19.5 million offer to Zach LaVine who had been a restricted free agent with the Bulls, but Chicago matched the offer.

This move leaves the Kings and the Atlanta Hawks as the last remaining teams with significant cap space, but Atlanta hasn’t been active in free agency.

This could also open up a window for the Kings to pursue David Nwaba. Chicago renounced his rights to create cap space for the Parker offer. Chicago could still re-sign Nwaba using the Room Mid Level Exception worth about $4.4 million. If the Kings are interested in Nwaba they could offer more.
