Iman Shumpert’s time with the Sacramento Kings has thus far flown mostly under the radar. He missed the 2017-18 season with knee and foot injuries. After being traded to Sacramento as part of the deadline deal with the Cavaliers, Shumpert was shelved for the year. The Kings had no reason to rush him back and risk additional injury.
Shumpert has a player option on the final year that he will almost surely exercise to stay with the Kings. If he opts out he would be leaving $11 million on the table and testing free agency without proving he’s back from injury. It’s almost a foregone conclusion that he’ll opt in, and it sounds like he’s eager to get back to basketball.
I can't wait to be allowed to play basketball without consulting with a medical team. These playoffs got me in my feelings

Shumpert getting healthy and returning to form would be a boost for everyone involved. The Kings could certainly use the depth on the wing, and when he’s playing well Shumpert has been a solid defender. If he can get healthy he could provide the Kings with added depth and potentially a nice trade asset in the final year of his contract.
