Iman Shumpert has officially opted into the final year of his contract, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports. The news doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as this decision was largely a formality at this point.
Sacramento Kings guard Iman Shumpert has opted into his $11M player option for the 2018-19 season, league sources tell Yahoo.

Shumpert has been battling injuries and wouldn’t have seen anything close to an $11 million per year offer. Beyond the obvious financial writing on the wall, Shunpert has been actively doscussing on social media how great he’s going to look in purple.
The last remaining unknown is Garrett Temple, who can opt into his final year worth $8 million. From his talk at the end of the year Temple sounded likely to opt in, but is still an unknown at this point. Kosta Koufos opted into his final year in May.
It will be interesting to see what kind of role Shumpert has next season for the Kings. When healthy, Shumpert has been a solid wing defender. The Kings may give him early minutes next season in an attempt to build his value as a trade chip.
