Former Sacramento Kings player Tyler Honeycutt is reportedly dead after a standoff with police in Sherman Oaks. According to ABC7, police responded after a call from Honeycutt’s mother that he was acting erratically. When police arrived Honeycutt allegedly opened fire and a several hour standoff ensued. Upon eventually entering the home police found Honeycutt unresponsive and he was later pronounced dead.

The Kings drafted Honeycutt with the 35th pick of the 2011 draft. Although he struggled to find a role in the NBA, Honeycutt found success playing in Europe. Regardless of his career this is heartbreaking end to his story.
Honeycutt was 27 years old. We offer our condolences to his family and friends.
