DeMarcus Cousins was instrumental in the Sacramento Kings victory over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday. The Kings won an improbable victory over the best team in the Western Conference, and Cousins led the charge. Boogie fell just short of a triple-double, finishing with 32 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists. But it wouldn’t be Boogie if he didn’t pair the good with the bad.
Following the game, Boogie threw up two middle fingers and shouted “f*** Golden State” at fan wearing Warriors gear. The (obviously NSFW) can be seen here.
If you don’t care for Boogie, this is yet another example of his immaturity. If you like Boogie, you probably think this is pretty funny.
Personally, while I’m a fan of Cousins and don’t think he meant any real harm by it, it makes me grimace. It would be nice if we could get through a positive moment in the season without a controversy to accompany it.
Luckily, this is a pretty minor controversy, all things considered. James Herbert of CBS Sports had a good point when considering the context in the NBA landscape:
I agree with James, but as a Boogie fan I can’t help but wish he didn’t give us so many opportunities to debate his maturity.
