Sacramento's biggest offseason signing this past summer was bringing back Carl Landry on a 4 year, $26 million deal.  Unfortunately it looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer before we get to see Top Hat back on the court as the team announced today that he would be out 3-4 months to recover from a torn hip flexor.  Landry is scheduled to have surgery tomorrow.

Landry had yet to play in either of Sacramento's two pre-season games, with what the Kings had called a strained quad.  It's unclear whether these injuries are related or separate.

On the bright side, Sacramento does have a lot of depth at the PF position and it looks like the competition for starting PF has narrowed down to two: Patrick Patterson and Jason Thompson.  Chuck Hayes will likely see much more playing time than originally planned, although I doubt he's in consideration for the starting role.  Forwards Luc Mbah a Moute and Travis Outlaw might also see some time at the four.

3-4 months would likely put Carl's return as somewhere around the All-Star break, just in time for Sacramento's inevitable playoff push.  Best of luck to Carl on a full recovery.
