Blake Griffin reportedly has a torn meniscus, and is out for the Olympics. (My condolences to Clips Nation.) In response to the injury, USA Basketball beckoned alternate Anthony Davis to Las Vegas for the team's exhibition against Francisco Garcia and the Dominican Republic on Thursday. Davis wasn't able to play in the tune-ups against the Select Team or practice over the past week of mini-camp, but because USA Basketball submitted his name with the final roster back in January, he's a part of the approved roster.
DeMarcus Cousins, our hero, was not and is not.
Ailene Voisin, a true champion of Cousins For America and potentially a serious booster of Cuzizstan, has the full situation report. Long story short: Jerry Colangelo would have to, you know, do some work to get Cousins added to the Olympic team. It's much easier to add Anthony Davis and allow Team USA to lack the post domination that Cousins could add. But if, Heaven forbid, another big man gets injured, Cousins has to be an option.
