Skal Labissiere had a coming out party against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday. The Sacramento Kings rookie filled the stat sheet, finishing with 32 points (21 in the 4th quarter!), 11 rebounds, and two steals. But it wasn’t just the stat line that was impressive, but how Skal got there.
Skal displayed an offensive arsenal of moves that most veteran big men can’t replicate. We saw half hooks with both hands, and we saw Skal finish through contact with either hand. Labissiere put on a display of dizzying spin moves, stutter steps, and hesitation moves. He hit a three without hesitation. It was really incredible to see.
One game doesn’t make a career, but this truly feels like the beginning of something special. As his minutes have slowly increased over the season, Skal has continued to impress and demonstrate progress. We know he’s a hard worker. We know he’s a good kid. And now we know that he can flat out ball.
All aboard the Skal bandwagon. This is going to be fun.
