The Bee's Sam Amick reports Spencer Hawes will have arthroscopic knee surgery Wednesday. There's no timetable for his return. This type of 'clean-up surgery' is usually a summertime rehab; Shareef Abdur-Rahim had this done in June and he'll probably be ready in November. But there's less invasive versions, too: Amare Stoudemire had a scope two weeks ago and he's good as new already. I'm guessing we'll know more Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

Avoiding microfracture — which Shawes had on this same left knee at age 14 mind you — was the victory here. So huzzah, I think.
