The Bee reports that Eric Musselman will name his coaching staff in the next couple days. Marty McNeal, assumedly filling in for the vacationing Sam Amick, reports the two names we reported last week, and adds in Jason Lamm from Memphis. McNeal also says T.R. Dunn, an Adelman-era assistant, is a possibility.
Geoff Petrie also addresses the Kevin Garnett rumors, saying whoever started them "must be a fiction lover." This doesn't surprise me – and it really shouldn't surprise anyone. The most interesting thing about this is that it means Marty McNeal reads the internet! I always took him as an old-school guy. But this rumor hasn't appeared anywhere but DraftExpress and some of the bigger hoopsblogs. So I'm pretty sure McNeal had to get it from the internet! How about that…
In other news, UCLA point guard Jordan Farmar will stay in the draft. It's widely believed Petrie will take a long look at the long, defensive-minded Farmar if he's still around at #19. (It's also widely believed that Farmar will be around there – DraftExpress's latest mock draft has the Bruin going to Memphis at #24.)
Also staying in the draft is Sergio Rodriguez, the 20-year-old phenom point guard from Spain. If you've yet to see any Sergio highlights, check out all the YouTube clips. He is the Geoff Petrie point guard, which makes this pick make all the more sense. (For what it's worth, both DraftExpress and Chad Ford currently have the Kings drafting Sergio. This makes me smile.)
