Nope, not the Kings' fifth preseason game, this time in Portland. More like the World Series, which kicks off on the south side of Chicago at 5 p.m. PST, in case you hadn't heard.
It will probably be the lowest rated Fall Classic since, um, 2002 (which I'm incidentally not ready to talk about yet). Doesn't mean it won't be entertaining – this many good pitchers in one series begs for drama.
I was trying to figure out an NBA corollary for the Series matchup between the White Sox and the Astros, and it's tough. My contrived analogy includes the Los Angeles Clippers (a team, like the Sox, with a little brother complex, considering their cross-town rival gets all the attention; longtime futility is also comparable) and the Minnesota Timberwolves (a team with one huge name – Garnett/Clemens – that hasn't been around since most other teams in the respective league and has never been in the title series, though each has had some postseason heartache in recent memory).
Of course, Minnesota and the Clips are in the same conference, which nullifies the whole analogy. So whatever.
Kings game starts at 7 p.m. Pacific, and will be on Comcast SportsNet. Enjoy.
