Bringing Back Pete Carril

By | 0 Comments | Feb 14, 2019

Forget about finding a new head coach. This is what I'm talking about:

You don't need me to tell you how much Pete Carril meant to the careers of Peja Stojakovic and Kevin Martin, or the offense of Rick Adelman. Carril more or less created the Sacramento Kings identity the world was in love with in the early 2000s. He left with Rick Adelman, retiring to New Jersey. Most thought he would land on the Nets bench; that did not materialize.Geoff Petrie played for Carril at Princeton and they've been life-long friends. This tells me that a) Petrie is going to have a strong hand in choosing assistants for the new coach, or b) Petrie is going to hire a coach who would hire Carril anyways: Terry Porter or Elston Turner, or possibly Scott Brooks (who would probably be an extension of Petrie on the sidelines).

Every day we get a sentence like this in the press, our team's future looks a little brighter.
