Artest Rumors Dripping With Fear and Angst

By | 0 Comments | Feb 14, 2019

Scott Howard-Cooper nailed it in the headline of his piece for the Sunday Bee: Trading Artest won't be easy.

He writes that teams are afraid of what Artest brings to the table, and as a result, the Kings just might have to settle for whatever they can get, even if it's of lesser value.

Most of the notes on where Artest could land have mentioned the Lakers. Kobe has been said to be unhappy with his situation in LA, and feels the Lakers haven't been aggressive about surrounding him with good talent. Artest is one of the guys its said he wanted the team to acquire but saw slip away when the Kings picked him up.

Hoopsworld also brings up Artest's name in association with the Lakers, even when mixed with a curiousity if the Kings want to do business with their SoCal rivals.

Names positioned for Artest include Luke Walton, Jordan Farmar or Kwame Brown, straight up.

On the other coast, Brian Schmitz writes the Orlando Magic Can Have Artest If They Want, but then proceeds to list all the reasons he sees Artest would not be a good fit, anyway.

Can you imagine getting Hedo back for Ron-Ron? I guess if it's "madness", it probably isn't going to happen. Many teams would love to have the talent of Ron Artest on their roster, so long as he doesn't bring along the baggage of Ron Artest. The Kings are definitely in between a rock and a hard place in how they handle who many believed was the teams' 2nd most productive player last season (and at the end of the season, arguably #1).
