The Sacramento Kings have finally made a draft pick after a flurry of trades and selected … Georgios Papagiannis out of Greece. No, I wasn't expecting that either.

The Kings picked the 7'2, 18 year old center with higher rated prospects like Wade Baldwin still on the board. The Kings must have really liked Papagiannis and didn't want to risk someone else taking him by the 22nd pick.

It's unclear where Papagiannis fits on a roster that already has DeMarcus Cousins, Willie Cauley-Stein and his countryman, Kosta Koufos. I'm not going to lie to you, I don't know much about Papagiannis as a prospect, having seen very little of him play. Here's his DraftExpress profile, which states his strengths are his size, quickness and interior presence, while his defense needs work.

It's also not totally clear if Papagiannis will be able to come to the NBA next year, as some European prospects decide to stay overseas for a while. I'm sure we'll get clarity on this soon.

The Kings still have the 22nd and 28th picks in this draft after all their trades today, and it will be interesting to see if they keep those picks and make selections or if they package them as part of a larger deal. I have a hard time seeing the Kings bringing in so many rookies this year when they're trying to win now.
