2016 NBA Draft: Kings select Skal Labissiere with 28th pick

By | 0 Comments | Mar 6, 2019

With the 28th pick, acquired from the Suns along with the 13th pick in a deal for Marquese Chriss (who was taken 8th), the Kings selected Kentucky's Skal Labissiere.

While Skal was highly rated as a prospect (most projections had him going in the later half of the lottery) and was one of the more talented players left on the board, this is still a surprise given that the Kings have now selected two centers in the same draft, while employing three centers already on the roster.

Labissiere offers up some potential on both ends of the floor, and as a stretch four as he's already displayed a feathery jump shot. He'll need to bulk up but he could be a very good development option for the Kings down the road.

I still can't believe the Kings will be bringing in three rookies (and maybe four if they sign the 59th pick to a contract) to the team next year. It seems that more might be coming, because as is, the roster is very crowded at one position and it's all very confusing to say the least.

For more on Labissiere, check out our own Bryant West's scouting report.

The Kings now just have the 59th pick in the draft. They selected Georgios Papagiannis with the 13th pick and Malachi Richardson with the 22nd pick.
