i know what I’m listening to in the morning
another episode – another smile.
Well done Will, Tony and The Great Jerry Reynolds.
The nicknames were… let’s just say – not the best, however, I can’t do better, which stifles my critique to a whimper.
but Chip? Nah. that’s a lead balloon.
This Kings team, while stable, and with continuity is expected to be as good or better than last season, and to me, that is due to the big D.
Not defense, mind you, but depth.
If you run the comparison to any team in the Pacific and add in Denver – the top teams – it’s Depth. The Kings, to me, are the most talented 10.
With the added push by The League to play players, depth should count for a lot as injuries may pile up. So depth, and included with continuity should be especially beneficial this season.
We’ll see, of course.
Light the M-F-ing Beam! (to quote #00 JaVale McGee)
Davion is “Big D” to me.
(Big Davion?)
One of the best listens and enjoyed nicknames and Bird stories . All in on Foxcom 5 and Zagatron .
Candidly, I don’t get either of them, but then I didn’t get Cole Slaw.
“Hey Slawson, you’re cabbage with runny jizz…but a basketball player!”
Dom Burgundy and Tips McGee.
If he hits a game winner, I’m calling him JaVale McBeam.
Monk’s situation as a bench guy or starter is interesting. As was pointed out, there is a decent chance that had Sacramento hit a long-ish losing streak, that he may have been swapped in for Huerter. That’s a tough point to argue.
But let’s say that after the trade deadline, both guys are still on the roster. Assuming both are having good years again, do you perhaps elevate Monk to a starting role in order to make him more favorable toward staying with the Kings after next summer? Monk is likely to have opportunities to start for other teams, and between his (I believe) highly-beneficial relationship with Fox on and off the court, and the fact that he’s one hell of a basketball player? I think he likes it in Sacramento, but you know he wants to start. It won’t be cheap to retain him, but assuming most or all of the above, Monk is likely to be worth something of an overpay, particularly if you factor in that he’s likely to continue getting better as he approaches his prime.
Frankly, if anyone tries to call him Chip, there may be no hope whatsoever of keeping Monk. How about Threelonious Monk?
Please don’t Buddhist.
Threelonius on Offense, Trappist on D. And still “no” on Chip.
Threezenkov as in Sasha V for 3!
Splasha Vezenkov.
It would suck if the league expanded, held an expansion draft, and the Kings didn’t protect Sasha, and some new team called the Bobcats drafted Sasha….
I’d really hate to have another “Crash”/Bobcats situation like we did with Gerald Wallace.
But I guess the silver lining is that the Bobcats could call Sasha: “Sash”.
(Ok, this took more time to write than it was worth.)
This is just so much fun to listen to, thanks for the terrific content.
Whoa, they answered my question. I’m flattered. Although I am also a bit surprised that Domas adding a mid range jumper didn’t even get an honorable mention. I’m betting on Keegan though, even though that is the obvious choice.
Thanks guys.
