The Kings got their butts kicked on national TV. Good times. Full recap to follow. For now, react away.

Kings season for the month of March in black and white
&ct=g
Our hopes. Our dreams. Everything we hoped for two seasons ago. It’s gone. Will be heading to the Bulls game next week. Because I still love this team and Sacramento.
Let’s just be realistic the Kings aren’t very good.
Thoughts and prayers!
Hilariously bad.
Curry and Playoff Jimmy Combine for 17 pts.
Kings get obliterated regardless.
Dubs just own the Kings on so many levels. It’s comical.
Culture, discipline, Developing young talent, management, ownership, coaching, a bunch of players that play at a real high BbIq.
Exactly all the things the Kings don’t possess.
Team is a disgrace with Zero
direction, Zero Future, very few assets and all the salary tied up in a hapless core of Lavine, Demar and Sabonis.
This current iteration is a complete and utter joke.
Wonder how Malik feels about re-signing now.
I mean, when you have Curry and Butler on the floor, life is easier even if they don’t score. However, the Dubs probably could have still beat the Kings had they been missing one of these guys.
Being that the rest of the schedule is brutal, it’s probably safe to say this team is going to finish 9th or 10th and get bounced in one or two games and miss the playoffs. I just don’t see them going far.
You just reconciled that tonite? Team was on borrowed time to begin with.
Soon, as they started facing playoff teams that are healthy. The reality is they are not any more than.a Middling .500 team at best.
Zero hope of landing a top
draft pick. Definitely Zero hope of any real good free agent coming here either.
Enjoy it! At least for the next 2
years. No moronic team is taking on that Lavine albatross.
They’ve been on borrowed time the moment they decided to run it back during the summer of ’23.
Soon as they started facing playoff teams?
Soon as Vivek took over …..fate sealed
Uh……..no? What gave you the idea that I just realized this team wasn’t that good? They haven’t been great most of the year. Just stating where there are at this point with what games they have remaining.
I think there’s still a decent chance they miss the playoffs altogether. Unfortunately, I don’t think that will actually sway Vivek to dump Christie.
Missing the play-in is absolutely in this franchises best interest but I don’t see how it’s possible unless Dallas or Phoenix get hot. Fingers crossed.
Yes, and I’m not sure if there’s any way to get Vivek to do anything intelligent regarding basketball.
That’s why the small hope would be to just get horrible, but even that might not be enough
I think Christie might actually be a decent coach. Hard to tell, though, since he’s got such poorly constructed roster.
Hard to tell since he’s got such a poorly constructed organization
IMO it isn’t the coach but Vivek needed to stay out of the situations. If he doesn’t forget the Kings as a good team and organization.
Christie is pretty good, considering his situation. The roster construction is ass. The most vital decision was on Fox and we all knew what management would do. Instead of rebuilding, Vivek and Monte decided to ride the dying horse into the sunset.
IMO this isn’t Christie’s fault. The Kings are not a very good team. Period. The sad thing they aren’t going anywhere in the future as long as Vivek runs the team. Sitting next to Divac who put us back ten years really doesn’t help. With those 2 we aren’t going to go anywhere fast or slow. I put some blame on Monte and Wes but until they have FULL control what happens with this team we are doomed. You can’t blame Doug all together. He has nothing to work with. He has a team who can’t defend the three and definitely doesn’t shoot the 3. There is a core of players who are good. IMO I would keep Murray. Ellis, LaRavia. JV only as a backup, Lavine and maybe Carter. Trade Monk, DDR is possible and Sabonis. Monk, Sabonis and Carter all have value. I am now and in the summer trying to work up some of these values. I’m sure Monte and Wes if they are here and have Full control atr doing the same. GO KINGS!
Unfortunately, I have no confidence in ownership to bring in a quality GM who will hire a quality coach, and get good returns on shopping this roster.
Could’ve stopped after the 7th word in that sentence.
This.
Hence the appearance of “sell” shirts at games lately.
I wish. Maybe if it all gets worse fabs will protest? Stop going? Hassle V to sell?
Force him out? Is anything even possible?
No wish needed. I saw them at both the Spurs game and the Knicks game. Hell, there was one in like the 3rd row behind the the Knicks announcers at that game.
He won’t sell though, he has no reason to. The team prints cash. There’s still a waiting list for season tickets, even with the cancellations.
The -I wish-was that V would sell
Ah, gotcha. My bad, I’m tired.
That’s really disheartening to hear.
He’s also one of the few NBA owners who rely on the income stream from the team and doesn’t have billions coming in from elsewhere.
He got a lot of free property around the area, though.
I find it disgusting that Vivek took a team that we (the fans were a huge part) saved from moving (ann amazing fest) and turned it into shit for his pockets and ego.
It’s really gross. He fucked Sacramento and the fans
To be fair, it was shit when he bought it. So he’s really just stayed the course.
Ha. That’s true
I have my qualms about some ownership decisions, but we were going to lose the team until he stepped up and helped with the arena and keeping the team in Sacramento.
I will be forever grateful to Vivek for saving the franchise. I’d rather be cheering for an up and down team that is ours than whatever I would have done if we were in Seattle, even if we were better.
You hit the nail on the head.
Just a hilariously bad mismanagement of assets over the last 2 years. Completely stuck in the middle with no hope of moving up or down. Complete disaster.
Only Bob Myers can blow this up proper.
Trade the 3 core. Move Monk
and Keegan for whatever you can get.
Prospects, Picks and a 10-20
win seasons for a 2-3 years. But hope! Will never happen.
But I am going to dream it into existence.
Anyone smart enough to do a proper job must also be smart enough to steer clear of this organization.
We have a core 3?
Vivek, Matina and Vlade (or 1 of Viveks kids)
Myers didn’t build the Warriors . GM Larry Riley drafted , Curry, Klay and Draymond . Fact
I would keep Murray and move Monk and Sabonis as starters. If possible move DDR and Carter.
Wait, so you’re telling me that when we aren’t playing teams blatantly tanking or missing all their best players, we don’t look very good? Shocking I tell you!
Seriously though, if you’re optimistic about the talent level of this team, what do you see that looks promising for the future? The core of this team is now mostly old and aren’t going to improve. There is now NO top end talent on this team and the pieces don’t fit. Like, what’s the point?
When I said two years ago we were the west coast Bulls, I didn’t realize we were literally the west coast Bulls. But here we are. This team is going nowhere, it’s run by incompetents, and other than a divine epiphany I don’t see how any of it changes. As Rob likes to say, nice arena though.
First. game in a while where there is no player on either team with a double double
The Vivek era of Sac Kings basketball in 4 seconds. “Thank you!….oookkk…what the hell is that…fuck this, I”m out.
The Maloofs owned the Kings for 15 years. We are now in year 12 of Vivek
Knew he was bad when he didn’t want Wests help and fired Malone.
I am close to out-until or unless Vivek leaves/gives up power.
Remember when Markelle Fultz was a great pickup and would add quality depth?
Yes, this was when he was in college.
Philly: “Fultz is our biggest bust.”
NBA 2024: “He’s out of the league.”
Kings fans: “Great veteran pick up.”
Remember when we were excited to retain Monk, draft Keegan, and trade for Sabonis?
.
!
There was also a time when we were excited about the toughness that Jae Crowder brought. To be honest, though, that really only lasted for one game.
Crowder had more of an impact as a starter.
I and others have said this here many times – this organization has far, far more value as a real-life soap opera than as a professional basketball team.
Works for me
There’s lots of drama to be had. From my perspective, Vivek isn’t so much the team’s owner as he is the team’s kidnapper.
4K baby!
It’s that time again.
And as much as I dislike saying it, this Warriors team right now is playing very intelligent, flowing basketball that is pleasing to the eye.
The exact opposite of the Kings, actually. We are not flowing at all.
It’s a bit easier for me to appreciate them now that they have a Dutchman on the team in Quinten Post. I’m rooting for my guy Quinten.
If Dallas didn’t have all those injuries after the Luka trade, they would have been ahead of the Kings.
Same with Spurs and Wemby. They would be battling for a 9/10 spot.
If the Suns didn’t have the drama like Sac, they would probably be higher up than the Kings.
That would have meant the Kings probably would have been 12th in the West. That is a tough pill to swallow.
I don’t necessarily disagree, but some other teams having injuries and down seasons for various reasons is always part of the equasion.
The thing here is that it seems obvious that this Kings team has a very clear ceiling (at best a first round exit, IMO), and that it is difficult to see a way to change that next season.
But who knows? As George Karl (and Nico Harrisson) said, no-one is untradeable!
Sigh.. this team…
Have a top twelve protected pick?
We will finish 13th!
Trade your franchise player and got a pick from the Spurs in return?
Not this year! That pick is no good! They will win too many games with Fox and Wemb…
But you got some interesting young pieces to showcase and develop, right?
We got LaVine!
So you’re making the playoffs then?
No, Play-in, play-in, you fool!
No pick, no young stud talent, no playoffs – what do I have to look forward to?
Basketball 3.0, baby! Now go buy tickets and enjoy the arena!
At this point, I’m rooting for the team to fall out of the play-in so they can keep their first round pick.
Honestly, a loss to the Suns tonight may actually be a blessing. A win pushes the Kings farther away from PHX and give the Kings the tie breaker. A loss could help keep that first round pick and potentially give PHX the tie breaking opportunity for the last game of the season.
4.5 games back from 6th seed and 30 games left. Lots of season left but its quickly looking like play-in purgatory. Again.
Thankfully only 17 games left.
Ah yes. It was 28 post all-star break. I am doofus.
That went as expected. Turned it off early 2nd Q. Correct choice.
How about that LaVine stat line: 83% shooting 100% from 3!!!
-34 +/- only 6 shots. 5 TOs. Yikes!
I know Jimmy was guarding him, but run him off some screens. He’s our best offensive player, he should not be 7th on the team in shots.
Watching the Dubs offense with it’s ability to run multiple picks and cuts for Curry was a beautiful thing to watch. It made it so apparent that Kings offense is just amateur hour of ISO and transition. There just no half court scheme to get a guy like LaVine open. It’s one vs one drive and kick…and that’s about it.
Right after the trade I thought maybe Monk could play the point. At this point, I’m completely done with the idea. He’s just too erratic to be a starting PG. He really needs to get back to the 6th man role as a microwave scorer.
Yeah I was totally wrong about that too. What I don’t understand is why they’ve run so much less pick and roll which is the place where Monk was thriving. My only guess there is that there are just too many iso heavy players on the court for that to work effectively. But who knows. Maybe he just can’t do it.
I agree, trying to turn Monk into a star just doesn’t seem to work. Given more consistent minutes and responsibilities he doesn’t really end up being worth much more than we’re paying him. There’s a reason he wasn’t a star before he came to Kings, excellent role player though. Someone needs to go to bench, I’d pick DDR (it’s the twilight of his career he needs to accept that) but Monk would be fine too.
In retrospect I see that firing Brown was actually a mistake for a few reasons. First off if you’re going to extend a guy like they did then you should also go into the season with a guarantee of a whole year. I don’t care how bad it gets, you just give him one more whole year minimum, if it totally sucks, then by all means fire him. The reason you do this is that in the worst case scenario Brown totally sucks and so do the Kings and you end up with a pretty good to good spot in the draft, not the worst thing. ALSO the KANGZ are known for their instability and dysfunction, we do not have the luxury of firing coaches willy-nilly whenever we feel like it. Perception is real and the Kings need to change what they look like around the league, tough job I know.
This all brings me to my point from last night’s game. The true genius of Golden State for me is Steve Kerr. Excellent GM work, good ownership, class all around (big market helps). Kerr is a guru on many levels, his offensive and defensive schemes are the definition of intelligent beautiful basketball and he plugs players into them and those players get even better because of systems. Having the stability of a truly good coach is the biggest reason for the Dubs continued success, as long as Kerr is there they will have a chance to contend. I’m not a fan of all the endless whining about Vivek on here, I do believe the Kings can succeed if they do a few simple things right. Hire some good people and turn it around, it’s not that complicated.
