Was hoping the game would be essentially over by the end of the third, but oh whale, a win is a win.
Interesting stat – I know one-game +/- is a deceptive and relatively poor stat but Heurter is literally the only player on the team with a negative +/- today. What’s the idea giving him 9:13 of run?
They’re giving him a chance to rebuild some trade value…but Kevin said “Nope, watch this instead.”
I fear there may be an element of truth to this. If Monte is instructing Doug to give Heurter an undeserved amount of playing time each game, thinking “he’ll bust out of his slump this time!”.
His minutes were bad. I’ve made a point to specifically watch him when he’s on the court to see what’s going on with him. He’s simply having the worst stretch of his career.
This stretch seems to have started early last season.
Sometimes a change of scenery can do wonders fur guy. I think that’s what both he and the Kings may need right now.
Totally agree.
He’s been bad since the Warriors playoff series. Just a 0 out there on the court.
This Sporting News article proposes a Mavs-Kings trade. They would get Huerter. We would get either Daniel Gafford or PJ Washington, and perhaps Dante Exum to make the salaries match. I’m in favor (prefer Gafford).

I suspect other teams have something more exciting to offer than Huerter.
I think so too, but I’d do the trade if it was available
Emit purple photons into the atmosphere!
Lakers lost tonight too!!!
We’re now tied for 8th place, just a game back off the L*kers in 6th. Really wish we could do-over some of those games against the L*kers. I suspect the outcomes would be quite different.
You mean giving Keon a DNP-CD in that first game against them might have been a mistake?!
Definitely might have been.
We’re like George Jefferson—“Movin’ on up!”
Not sure who else you beat when five of your first eight players go a combined 0-21 from three.
Hopefully the decision-makers agree Keon’s 42% 3pt fg on nearly 4 attempts per game is no fluke.
Domas also at just under 50% from 3 this season.
I say, “let it fly” applies to those two indubitably.
“THE VIBES ARE IMMACULATE.”
Hah, loved that interview. He’s such an easy guy to root for.
Here’s to the entire Wizards organization:

So, can we please put any desire, no matter how small, to get Kyle Kuzma to the Kings to bed? I wouldn’t trade a box of rocks for that dude right now.
Think the Wizards messed up not trading him last year. Didn’t they want two picks for him?! He terrible.
How bout a box of rocks plus Huerter?
Yeah that was a rough game, id still give huerter and a 2nd though
I think that’s what trading Huerter might come down to. Trading our nonfunctioning 2 for someone else’s nonfunctioning 4.
Except you can’t. Kuzma makes $6m more than Huerter, and is under contract for an additional year. Kings would have to add more.
Of course dude but adding a colby or Doug is easy
I still wouldn’t. Kuzma is basically a taller more expensive version of Huerter. I’d hope Monte doesn’t give up his only tradable 2nd round pick for him.
Watching Kuzma tonight caused me to create a new phrase: “he’s never met a shot he didn’t miss.”
As I said last year: Kuzma tries to play with a Mamba mentality, but with the venom of an earthworm.
Kuzma was 1/7 from three, he would fit in with the Kings perfectly!
Dumbledore wizard dance! Kings Win!
Big brother Jonas Valanciunas taking it to Lil’ Bro Domas. JV at $10M/season is a steal. Domas with another monster game. Dude, is amazing.
With Kings up by 12 with about 6 minutes left, Wizard put in Alex , took JV out, which was tantamount to waving the white flag.
Capture the Flagg! Race for Ace!
Fox off again, Monk covered him up. DeRozan shot a lot of shots (21) for his 24 points
Fox, DeRozan, Keegan 0/14
Lyles, Huerter 0/7.
that’s 0/21!
Sabonis 2/3, Monk 3/6, Ellis 6/8 for 11/17
Alex Len 1/1.
Sheesh!
Won by 20 so not complaining, but those shots were not dropping.
Malik to the dunk contest! Start the campaign, time is getting short!
Is it possible to play pretty poorly and win by 23? Felt like the Kings were barely trying but the Wizards are AWFUL. They are so comically bad I don’t know how any good team could lose to them.
Are you sure we weren’t playing the Washington Generals?
The Generals are in Sacramento today for two games against the Globetrotters, so it could have been them last night!
I think that explains it! Man they are bad!
I cannot confirm that. Very possible.
Always surprising to see the Kings beat an opponent they should beat!
I was at the game and thought the Kings did not play a great game, but the obvious inferiority of their opponents kept them in the lead. On the positive side, this seems to be the type of game they would have lost to an inferior opponent last year or earlier this year. So, its a good sign they were still able to pull out the win, and by a comfortable margin at the end. They did enough to win on this night against the team they were playing, and that is all we can ask. This is still the same team that recently beat the #2 teams in both the east and west. They just did not seem as motivated tonight, and did not need to be. We will see if that ends up mattering later.
We are finally starting to protect the home court, so that’s a positive.
On the negative side, it seems to be that the two seasons ago when Fox shot .369 from 3 was a bit of an outlier. He’s now at .328 for this season (.333 for his career). He should really be more selective with the kind of 3’s he takes. At least his FT% is up to a career high .812, which is big.
Looked for a comparable level guard (i.e all-star or borderline) that is shooting 3’s this year at a similar clip– Jaylen Brown is shooting nearly identical % yet has taken 114 fewer threes this year than Fox. Nearly three less per game.
While I was in there, it was pretty surreal to see Domas at the top of the 3pt% leaderboard.
Sabonis AND Jokic the top two 3point FG % in the league. Centers leading the way! Wemby may join them soon. Should have a 3 point contest with only Centers.
possibly. he has had two fingers taped together on his shooting hand all season.
Once again the Pacific division is such a gauntlet. Each team with 20+ wins and all over .500.
