Not making it to the game, which means I’m stuck with the Blazers broadcast.
Go Kings!
Please report on any noteworthy commentary! I always find opposing broadcasts… interesting.
No 3 possession Kayte for you tonight!
I’m gonna go with an unpopular opinion here which is Kayte and Kyle/Mark are more enjoyable than other broadcasters, because sure, they share anecdotes every now and then, but do they take minutes out of the game to rant about holiday movies?
I don’t think they’re that bad, and I’ll take them over the Blazers crew 9/10 times. Of course, maybe some of that is just homesick nostalgia.
I rarely listen to other announcers. Kings crew has some things I don’t like, but it doesn’t take away from the game.
I enjoy them too actually. Draper is growing on me. My main problem with Kayte is she sometimes says things that are patently untrue to shill for the team. I get it’s kinda her job. But I don’t remember Jerry or Doug ever doing that.
The endless complaining about Kayte is far more annoying than anything she’s actually done.
You’re only making it worse. 🙂
Kayte is good…. Marty is correct… How do I move on from here.
That made me smile. Looong story. To be fair though; There’s not much else that is too exciting during a Blazers/Jazz game to grab my attention!
You remember two years ago, when the kings used to pass the ball more…it was cool
Valanciunas is immediately awesome
Jonas already taking more shots than Len would put up in 3 or 4 games
And fearless in calling for the ball to serve as a hub for the offense
My name is Jooooooonas!
Our second unit is Carter/Ellis/LaRavia/Lyles/JV. I am legitimately comfortable playing every single one of those players 15+ mpg. I have never been able to say that about a Kings roster in two decades.
JV and LaRavia should hopefully add scoring that the bench has sorely missed.
Poor clock awareness by LaVine to close out the quarter
Kept them under 30. Stay strong with the energy and effort.
Offense looks terrible at the moment. Keegan is also getting blown by on defense.
They’re definitely feeling each other out
During commercial Kayte is still telling Kyle about why she thinks Doug’s rotations will take time.
The Monte McNair Throw Shit at the Wall & See What Sticks school of roster building.
Kayte, wow.
Y’all have to admit her ability to talk over everything is INCREDIBLE.
I have no idea why you watch with the sound on. It’s much more enjoyable with music.
Sad violins, or circus music?
Brickhouse on repeat to reflect our roster of “shooters”.
Trip Hop!
You say this in every single game thread. Watch with the sound off, dude.
And every game thread someone complains about Vivek and/or Monte.
I move around the house and get shit done while listening and drive-by watching, I need the audio.
Gary Gerould or sail the high seas and watch the other broadcast. Half the time, I watch on a tablet walking around the house.
This team definitely needs to add 3pt shooting.
This is laughably petty.
That is sly
…like a fox
?
Because he left two months ago.
Touché
Wow. If that were true this would have been the most amazing deadline ever. Just one little inaccuracy
I hate the defensive scheme of sagging of 3pt shooters so far. Can they watch the tape and see that it is a bad strategy?
While I’m not sad about De’Aaron leaving, using him to acquire Lavine is malpractice.
Christie is playing a fair amount of non-LaVine lineups tonight, and they look bad with or without him, so “new guys” isn’t much of an excuse.
Offense lacks any cohesion whatsoever. Nobody knows what their role is supposed to be or what actions they should be running.
I don’t have the numbers, but it looks to me like the Kings have missed many close shots.
Yep. I think that’s fine with LaVine on the floor, but I don’t understand why five guys who’ve played a bunch of minutes together look like they don’t know what they’re doing on offense. Most likely the shift from relying on Fox to run a lot of the offense.
This iteration of the kings lacks anyone who even remotely commands the attention of opposing defenses. Fox took tons of pressure off this team. Will take time to adapt, if they do.
Domas is the only one I see getting any double teams.
Sabonis’ hands are the hands of God
Moses Malone’d
Diego Maradona might beg to differ
That’s that guy who painted all the cool murals, right? 😉
Michaelangelo
JV looks like he is getting ready for an amateur strongman competition.
I appreciate Lavine putting some full court pressure on defense but why stop once you pass half court?
Pretty ugly half, but at least they’re close?
Said the same thing 24 hours ago…then they turned to crap real fast.
Yeah we have missed a ton of open shots, but played stretches of strong D.
Denver is pummeling Orlando. Magic have made four 3’s. It was nice of them to make so many in Sacramento…
That b2b Sac to Denver is a bear.
California is Bear style.
Denver is also a good team, though.
Defense leads to offense. Ball movement leads to open shots. Do more of that stuff.
There is so much standing around going on on offense at all times, drives me crazy
They would benefit from the Princeton offense, especially with Domas passing the ball.
Is Monk Better than Fox?
Objectively probably not but subjectively hell yes he is.
I’m using Haliburton as a reference
Amazing pass by Monk!
I love the Trail Blazers.
The Kings’ offense couldn’t look worse.
No thanks on the 27 foot, no pass ISO three Zach.
sequenced
What is Zach’s deal at the end of the quarters?
He is not a good basketball player. We are about to learn this intimately.
Welcome to the forum
Forum of basketball hell.
Yes
I’ve heard Bulls fans say he’s not a good decision maker with the ball in his hands. No idea how true that is, and one game isn’t much of a sample.
Welcome
If Zach is so worried about his shooting percentages, just give the ball to someone else at the end of quarters.
I suspect this game is over. The Kings had a shot to get it going and it seems that opportunity has passed them by. I hope I’m wrong.
I agree. This team is back to the no-fight Brown days.
Ugh. There’s about one guy in the NBA where a step back off the dribble three is a good shot, and that guy doesn’t play for the Kings.
Portland knows we don’t have anytlone capable of scoring in bunches.
What in the heck is Portland challenging?
JV was out of position? He didn’t even jump or move. Just stood there. Maybe the restricted area, but he didn’t try to draw a charge.
A clear defensive foul?
Awful non-call there. That’s 100% a foul on Jonas. He’s out there obstructing and playing physical basketball, which is good for this team.
Domas has got called for several moving screens and they were the right call every time. What are you doing, man?
1. Some Keon defense might help here; 2. The Kings should trap at half court.
Domas is the God of the NBA.
I’ve seen some bad body language from Domas this game and I’ve… never really seen that before… It’s unsettling…
Have Domas and Jonas been on the floor together yet?
The NBA is corrupt and I love it.
Weak call on Domas there, but I don’t think they win the challenge.
I guess the only way to keep Sabonis from playing 30 min a game is to have him foul out.
Jonas, it’s your time to shine!
This closing lineup really needed Keon’s defense.
Absolutely garbage. Tired of watching this team not play defense and let opposing players get wide open clean looks from three. It’s not rocket science. Play fucking defense.
Lavine- woof
There’s a certain amount of this that’s unfamiliarity, but the truth is that this team just isn’t very good. They’re not going to magically going to get better in a week or after a training camp.
Not sure what’s worse, Monte making no trades as the deadline, or Monte making bad trades at the deadline.
Defense, do you have it?
Haven’t had it for years in Sacramento, no matter who has been on the team.
Is it me, or is it obvious when an offensive player is gauging their defender to set them up for a step back 3?
Knew DDR was was going to have that step back by Simon or Sharpe.
Zach Lavine is just as terrible as advertised. There’s a reason why he’s only made 1 playoff series.
Same for Fox.
Agreed.
I hate to defend LaVine, because I’ve never liked him as a player and I don’t particularly like him as a player now, but I expect he’ll be better than you see tonight. It’s not enough to make this team good, or better than the team with Fox on it, but better than tonight.
I am looking forward to the time in 2 to 3 years where alot of these players are gone and the kings may be ready to tank/rebuild although I don’t trust Vivek to allow that to happen for the kings to build a proper team
Didn’t think the BBIQ could get worse but swapping Fox for Lavine??? WOOF
Especially because Fox’s isn’t exactly high to begin with.
Oh look, the Kings finally decided to play some pressure defense.
I want the spurs to make the playoffs so I can just laugh at Monte and Wes and Vivek
Kings Head to lottery and pick a 6’3” guard with an average wingspan who either kinda plays defense but can’t score or kinda scores but doesn’t play defense.
Then trades him to the Spurs in 8 years.
Sabonis takes 6 shots? WTAF?
At least we will probably keep our 25 pick.. time to fire up tankathon to see what undersized combo guard Monte will pick
As long as he can’t shoot either!
It’s ok. They’ll trade him someday for cap space to sign an aged past-prime veteran or something.
Good thing G1 Kings tickets increased by three times for the Kings/Spurs game.
boring
Duece and Mo playing defense for the Kings. Lol.
It’s what makes them every bit as horrendous as Kayte.
With Sabonis as our best player, the Kings will be a lottery bound team every year. Just….deflating.
DDr and Lavine will consistently put up 20 plus nightly. That’s it. Both are hideously bad on man D. Throw Monk in there, as well.
Lavine’s numbers in Chicago this year are possibly misleading. He played a much easier conference. He also was the number one option on a bad team.
Back in the day, The only reason DDR and Lavine had any success in Chicago. Which was a first round exit.
Ball and Caruso bailed those 2 out on D. Every night.
I hope the Blazers go on a historic winning streak and pass the Kings. They play hard and for each other.
Even if Kings miss the play in. The front office will have the excuse. We need a full offseason with Lavine. Then they’ll offer him a 4 yr extension. I see it clear as day
