Man we are spoiled in Sacramento with Golden 1. I’m at State Farm and it’s is not near as nice and there is no energy for the Hawks… let’s light the Beam Baby!! Go Kings!!
Kings are rolling early. 5 of their first 5 and Atlanta calls a timeout. If the Kings simply win the games they are supposed to win, it’ll go a long way in the gauntlet that is the West. So far this season, it looks like that’s what they’ll do.
The Hawks suck. Trae Young just Jack’s early possession 3s and makes erratic passes.
They really are a mess. No cohesion defensively nor offensively. Defense gives up easy baskets, Trae Young attempts to shoot them back into it. Not a reliable system.
It’s like watching the Kings of the 16 year drought.
First Q Analysis:
Lob after lob
Finished that 1Q a little sloppy, but otherwise a good start.
Kayte is extra talky today. Holy crap
Lyles seems to have forgotten how to shoot. Jeez.
Finding an upgrade for Lyles would be quite helpful.
Call Milwaukee and see what it takes to get Portis.
I was hoping that would be part of this past off-season. However, with Milwaukee looking to hold a fire sale at the deadline (if not sooner), I’d like to think Monte will get in on it.
Portis has a player option for next season. Maybe Lyles expiring would be of interest for the salary relief.
Letting Atlanta gang around hy taking bad shots and turning the ball over. Can’t let bad teams hang around too long.
DeMar DeRozan does not shoot middies, he throws daggers which occasionally pierce hearts.
there’s a strong move by Keegan
Refs trying to make this a close game again
Need Keon back in there to disrupt on defense a bit
Surprised nobody picked up a tech during that sequence of events. The no calls were awful.
How does anyone confuse Trae Young for a better player than DeAaron Fox?
Flashier 3s? Ball hog, higher usage which leads to more raw stats?
DeRozan carried the offense for a couple minutes there, takes a seat and Monk comes in an immediately gets to the rack. This Kings team is 48 minutes of non-stop bucket-getting.
why put in Colby Jones there?
Brown still has to coach this team aggressively against a bad team with a decent lead. This team either scores all the time or gives up twenty point leads. There is no such thing as maintaining a lead with a halfcourt offense or a bench.
Kate: Great game management by MB
Subs in Colby to guard Trae
LOL
I think it was because others are in foul trouble.
I have seen Dear play many times before, but I have never really watched him until he was a King to be honest.
The man can flat play basketball.
*Damar
Strike 3…
*DeMar
Kaytee shocked that the kings leaving 3pt shooters wide open
It feels like Trey has struggled against the back up bigs the last two games defensively and not making up with it on O
The Kings took their foot off the gas on defense and so when they eventually had a scoring drought it allowed the lead to close quickly. Sabonis and D-Roz back in to close the game out. Fox is also pissed off which usually means he’s not going to lose the game.
Welp, the momentum has completely swung in favor of the Hawks.
Star Fox swooping in to tell everyone to chill
You talking about the guy with 5 turnovers playing in the game that the Hawks are owning for the moment?
Kardiac Kangz
Well, at least Fox stopped the bleeding a bit. Do not like that they keep leaving three point shooters open, even though the last couple the Hawks missed.
Kings quit leaving guys wide open for 3 challenge(Impossible)
There is not a single basketball team in any league on the planet earth that the Kings can shut down.
Let’s close it out Fox
who has been the best defender on Trae tonight? I didn’t see the 1st half.
good challenge
didn’t Trae get called for an offensive foul on a play like that last year?
Let them get back in the game and now they’re getting peak Trae foul baiting
yeah, Trae tried that on Davion last year. Offensive foul on trae
Successful challenge!
Feels like Brown has won more challenges already this season than he did all of last year lol.
Two would have tied it. So…
Would be nice if they guarded Garrison Matthews…
Fox contested on that last one at least and he just made it. Problem is, when you give shooters so many open shots and let them get into a groove, they’ll start hitting tougher ones
God damn, I thought Huerter had that layup.
And Sabonis fouls out….
Domas just gotta shoot that there. Easy foul and now he’s done
DeRozan knows how to get to the line. I likey.
That doesn’t look like a goat tend.
clearly on the way up
Scott Foster got money on the line tonight.
Alright, now it’s gonna be down to hitting our free throws.
KEEGAN MURRAY WITH THE REJECTION
Malik has no clutch gene when it comes to free throws.
Yeah, that’s been an issue lately, especially for a 80%+ free throw shooter. Must always just get the nerves.
Hawks announcers have no idea who’s playing for the Kings. Thought Deebo got the block, then thought he was at the line, then corrected their mistake by saying it was actually Malik who got the block and free throws.
Got ugly in that 2nd half/4th but they got the job done vs a bad and injured team. Need to keep taking care of business vs these teams
That’ll do it, light the beam baby.
Fox hit some big shots
This has been a truly pathetic fourth quarter for the Kings. I felt like DeRozan’s calming effect helped after they choked the lead away. But damn, this was a really unsatisfying win. Guard the goddamn perimeter, guys.
Without DeMar last year, this would have been an infuriating loss. Any kind of win sounds pretty tasty to me. These are the kinds of games we brought him in for.
Yep, agree with both of you. This was 100% a loss last year. So I’m happy for progress, but so frustrated by the three point parade the Kings are giving up.
If this was the Kings of last year, I feel like we would’ve blown this game. DeMar definitely made a difference.
Another near 20 point lead blown. This team must have ADD. Just grateful for the W.
Real nice of the arena to give us a good beat for the Beam chants
Hawks were 19/50 from 3. Jeez
And Kings still won! Speaks volumes of a dynamic and unstoppable offense is with a terrible defense.
DeRozan’s composure on offense and ability to go to the line is the difference so far for this season. Last year’s team might have lost this game.
They’re really planning to just score 130 points per game, huh?
Seems so
Kings shot 87% on their free throws.
A miracle in our time.
Would like to have an athletic backup big to come in when Domas fouls out or gets in foul trouble, which will happen several more times this year. His aggressiveness leads to a lot of fouls.
Maybe that’s Robinson. I wonder when he is getting back to playing.
Keegan is this team’s new workhorse now that HB is gone. Plays more minutes than anyone because he’s invaluable for rebounding, defense, and spacing. He is everything this team needs around its Big 3. Consistently has the best +/- on the team. Doesn’t put up the most counting stats but the team is simply better when he’s on the floor. He’s even shown some improved playmaking off the advantages he creates on offense. Ultimate glue guy on both ends.
