The Kings announced today that forward Keegan Murray would be out for at least two weeks with a mild left ankle sprain, which suffered in Wednesday’s game against the Houston Rockets. Murray came down awkwardly in the first quarter trying to contest a shot and limped off the floor after playing just 9 minutes. Murray had previously missed 20 games with an injury to this same ankle, which according to the Kings telecast was the first time Murray had ever injured his ankle at all, which is kind of crazy considering how much basketball he’s played in both college and the NBA.
Murray has played just 23 games this season due to a variety of ailments. It’s good news that Murray’s latest ankle injury doesn’t seem too serious, but you have to wonder if it’d be better for Murray’s sake to just shut him down at this point and let him get healthy for the offseason rather than risking him come back and aggravate it again. The Kings aren’t playing for anything but ping pong balls at this point, and Murray is one of the few players on this roster that might actually have a future with this team, having just signed a five-year extension this offseason. If the Kings need to be careful with anyone, it’s Murray.
With Murray out, I assume we’ll see more of Precious Achiuwa, Daeqwon Plowden and Patrick Baldwin Jr. Achiuwa led the Kings in scoring with 29 points against the Dallas Mavericks yesterday, and Plowden chipped in 19 points on a perfect 7-7 from the field off the bench. The Kings are back in action on Sunday when they take on the Lakers in Los Angeles.

Damn, just can’t catch a break. Wonder if it would be better just to shut him down at this point considering it’s a lost season.
Here’s to a speedy recovery, Keegan!
Agreed. Let it recover so he can get a full offseason to find his 3pt shot again.
2 weeks puts the Kings right around the back to back games against the Clips and Jazz. After those, there will be only 13 games left to play. Might as well shut him down
I sure hope Doug knows this.
Doug knows nothing.
As vehemently as I was against his hire, he even managed to unpleasantly surprise me.
Worse than I thought, as well.
-Pick-up 94 feet? Nope
-50 3pa per game? Nope. 30.2
-Tough minded, defensive team? Nope
-Hold players accountable for not playing defense? Nope.
In-game management is an issue. Using coaches challenges makes no sense based on how he used them early in games.
I’m not sure if he does anything good (at least that with the knowledge we have as fans). Some players might like him off the court and in the locker room, but we don’t really know.
No way he makes it to that 3rd year, $8m team option. I suspect he gets let go mid-way through next season, if not earlier.
On April 23rd of last year, the newly hired Scott Perry’s first question was asked by James Ham. It was about who was going to be the head coach. Perry waffled back and forth and said his phone was blowing up with folks interested. The second question specifically asked if he was naming Doug the head coach. Perry bluntly responded with a “no.”
6 days later….6 FUCKING DAYS… news breaks that Doug would be coach. There was now search or interviews of anyone else.
Unserious franchise.
Seriously, would you put trust in a person like this to coach or lead a group of men for you favorite basketball team?
Get well soon, Keegan.
Just be safe, I think they should do surgery.
Based on your analysis of his medical file?
“just to be safe”? what kind o surgery would that be?
Take what out, put what in? fix what?
On a serious note- take him out and his ankle so the Kings can lose to the Nets, Pacers and Wizards. But they are so low on their depth charts that they are playing the towel guy from the locker room, the assistant security guy, the owner’s son and daughter.
The only way to “win” this one( losing = winning) is to play the future first rounder from2046, that toddler.
Have to find ways to lose. More Carter minutes? Carter + Baldwin + Hayes + 2 guys who foul out.
Yes, a 3 point shot transplant. Keegs is on the list needing a donor.
Well, we get to tty and figure it out from the cheap seats.
Sure seems mental as his form appears unchanged. But also agree he is not setting his feet the same, trying to create rather than set shot it. Even his set shots are off though.
Maybe if we have Luke Loucks work with him…. oh wait. nm
Doesn’t look like any Kings will be let go/waived/bought out before the midnight deadline.
I believe it is today. Hoping Russ is being bought out, but I doubt it at this point.
I saw somewhere on my X feed that there is talk of making sure Sac brought Russ back next season so he can work with the young’uns next season.
UGH!
