Sacramento Kings basketball is back tonight at Golden 1 Center, as the Kings are taking on the Los Angeles Lakers at 7 pm. The game is set to be televised on NBA TV, and the Kings will also be streaming it online through Kings+, which you can register for here.
Preliminary reports seem to indicate that the team will be sitting Ben Simmons, Malik Monk and Keegan Murray tonight and given that it’s preseason, we probably shouldn’t expect too much from other vets like Domantas Sabonis, Deandre Hunter or Zach LaVine. But hopefully that means a healthy dose of rookies Darius Acuff Jr., Emanuel Sharp and Alex Karaban, along with sophomores Nique Clifford, Maxime Raynaud and Dylan Cardwell.
It will be good to finally have some actual basketball to discuss after a long summer off. This is the first of six preseason games for the Kings but only two of those are in Sacramento.
Feel free to use this as an open thread for the game tonight, and we’ll be sure to have a reaction piece tomorrow morning.

We’re all looking for reasons to hope—
Some small something that helps us to cope.
Please give us a sign
Of some grand design
That will get us off the downslope!
Missed these. Thanks Jman!
One silver lining to every season is always looking forward to the Jman pre-game rhymes!
Been needing my Kings limericks. Okay, needing might be a bit of an overstatement. But I did miss them
Ben Simmons is out tonight?
Man, it’s the first pre-season game and the Kings have already let me down!
Saving him for Wemby.
Gone fishin’ already?
Well, he’s not starting tonight!

I’m ready for love and 100% prepared to get my heart broken again.
Think I’m gonna try that Kings+ app thingy. We noo longer have cable so I might as well see how that process goes.
Not looking good so far. It wants me to sign in to Leage Pass before I can watch. I don’t really care about watching anyway, I just want to listen to G-Man. Not seeing a way to do that at all, though. Maybe it will miraculously show up at tip-off time.
Right? This godforsaken team has the added benefit of also being unlistenable. I can’t even begin to fathom what goes into their decision making process.
Well, G-man is there after all. They didn’t totally screw the pooch,
Unlike the Kings themselves, who are already in midseason form
Exactly what I was thinking
They make it difficult and people will just sail the high seas.
I get that they want to annoy the Lakers during the team intros, but damn…those traffic sounds made me want to go all Michael Douglas on somebody.
Good lord, Acuff.. calm down, it’s just preseason. This kid gonna be something special.
A lone offensive
bright spotflashlight.Nique having problems starting the offense. NaPG.
Thats assuming they have offensive sets.
Yeah, I really hate this Nique PG experiment. He just waits to be boxed into a corner and pass the ball out. No business being a PG.
Tickey tack. Game not available on NBA TV in this market. Checked Kings.com BS. Nothing on how to watch a game either.
It was on NBA TV but blocked out locally.
I got the streaming on NBC.com
saw entire game on computer screen but wish I had not
If you have an iPad and a smart tv, you can do screen mirroring and it will appear on your tv. Same with an iPhone.
I was able to activate the NBA app on my smart tv. Once I logged in, I had no trouble tuning in on the Kings+ link.
Different players. Some different coaches. Same results.
Poor 3pt defense, came out flat, and the Kings inly shot 22 3s (4-22).
The Lakers MADE 23 3pt shots! Doug ain’t gonna make it to Christmas.
Preseason win/loss record doesn’t matter, but how they play surely does matter.
Perry’s Pillars must be made of styrofoam . Seems Vegas odds makers could be correct again .
Live shot of Perry’s pillars.

Sabonis is regressing hard – throws a tantrum every time he gets dunked on, still looks like he’s going through the motions. Maxime looked completely lost out there. Defense looked abysmal as predicted with everyone ball watching.
I thought maybe with Sabonis and Murray being healthy this season, that the team would naturally win a few more games, close to 30. But honestly, I really don’t know if they win 20 this season.
The coaching is that bad. How does a team come out flat in a preseason game when they have had months to prepare themselves?
They added size, length, versatility, but not much talent.
I only got to watch the game in passing so how the hell did Sabonis pick up 5 fouls in 10 minutes of action?
In my limited viewing, the defense looked like absolute shit. If that doesn’t change it won’t matter who is on this team. Doug should get has ass canned ASAP if they are going to give up 20 3pt makes to the Kings 4. The Lakers averaged 11.8 3pt makes last year and they just dropped 20 on the Kings with nothing but Luka for 18 minutes and a bunch of randoms. Dog shit.
I think Domas was hit with a few fouls on screens/picks. The timing with him and Acuff was off on the DHO/PnR.
Also, wasn’t Doug saying all last season that he wanted them to shoot 50 3s/game? Pick up 94 feet? Play hard, physical defense? They do none of that. He loses credibility each time he opens his mouth.
