Kings vs. Clippers Preview and Predictions: California Showdown

The Kings look to make it two nights in a row of taking out Pacific Division rivals.

I still can’t get over the fact that the Kings won that crazy game last night, but we already have another basketball game to worry about as the 2015 NBA All-Star team, aka the LA Clippers, visits Sacramento tonight. Can the Kings carry over their momentum and beat yet another Pacific Division rival two nights in a row?

Let’s talk Kings basketball!

When: Wednesday, November 29th, 7:00 PM PT
Where: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, CA
TV: NBC Sports California
Radio: Sactown Sports 1140

Hollywood Squares

The Clippers have gone all in on acquiring big names this season, adding James Harden to a core featuring Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and Russell Westbrook. A few years ago this would have been deemed a true Super Team, but now their collective star has faded. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are both still elite two-way talents and have each managed to play every game of this season so far, but James Harden looks like a shade of his former self. In 11 games with the Clippers, he’s averaging just 14.1 points, 6.2 assists and 4.6 rebounds. The Clippers have gone just 4-7 since trading for Harden, including an embarrassing loss to the Nuggets on Monday in which former Clipper DeAndre Jordan scored more points (21) than George (6) and Harden (11) combined.

Russell Westbrook has been moved to the bench, supposedly voluntarily, but its clear the Clippers haven’t found a rhythm yet. Still, these old dogs still have some bite left, even if their best days are behind them.

Another Thriller?

A lot of attention has been given to how good games between the Kings and Warriors have been, but the same could be said of Sacramento’s matchups against the Clippers last season. Three of the matchups last season between the teams came down to one possession. The most famous was the team’s third meetup which went to double overtime and saw the Kings win 176-175 in the 2nd highest scoring game in NBA history. Just over a week later, the Kings won yet another close game, with Domantas Sabonis making some late free throws to give the Kings a one point lead and Paul George missing a three pointer at the buzzer as Sacramento won 128-127.

The only game which featured both teams at full strength was the crazy double overtime game (the only one in which Kawhi played). The Clippers are going to be at relatively full strength tonight (Mason Plumlee is hurt) but the Kings could be missing Keegan Murray again. This should be a fun matchup.

Pace

Even though Sacramento is on the second night of a back-to-back, they have to play with pace. The Clippers are in the bottom third of the league in pace while Sacramento is in the top 3rd. Even with playing last night, the Kings are much younger than the Clippers and should try to tire them out as much as possible to even the odds.

Prediction

Not content with simply having the second highest scoring game in the record books, the Kings and Clippers look to see which team can be the first in NBA history to break the 200 points barrier.

Kings 205, Clippers 198 in 5OT

Man, if there was ever a reason for a team to be tired, tonight would be it. I hope Brown has a few tricks up his sleeve to avoid a slow start.

It’s going to be tough, what with us having no Draymond Green in the lineup to count on. Hoping for the best, though.

This is such a tough question:

Which of these players will have the most assists?

I think Harden chases stats tonight but I think the Kings collective group pulls out a win.

SEGABABA tonight with the Clips—
At least this time it won’t involve trips.
They have Harden aboard,
Hope he sows team discord,
And they all get a case of the yips!

It’s gonna be hard tonight, SEGABABA, Fox and Sabonis playing heavy minutes. But we shall see.

Keegan is out again tonight. Someone needs to step up defensively on Kawhi and Paul George.

I’m still riding high from last night and really wouldn’t care if the Clips win this one. It’s a SAGABABA with a team that I don’t give two shits about. I’m guessing Brown has it down as a scheduled loss. Whatever….GO KINGS!

Maybe being at home will negate some of the fatigue?

It’s also that the Clips are rested and may come out mad after being embarrassed by Denver on Monday.

If I know Brown and probably don’t he would never see a game as a loss. I thought Sabonis had a bad night yesterday but could come out firing tonight. The bench will really have to step up. Maybe Sasha has a real good night. Also Keon and Duarte. Let’s hope so. GO KINGS!

I can’t believe I missed the last game. I saw the first quarter but then friends came over and I ended up missing the rest of the game because it wasn’t available on Fubo and I cannot find a way to replay it on Amazon Prime.

If anyone knows where to find a replay of it, please help!! I don’t want to just watch highlights, or smile along like I know what happened to everyone’s replys here.

I believe (but not completely sure) the NBA app has replays starting 24 hours after the game has passed.

Nothing to do with tonight, but I just saw Gary Payton II is out indefinitely with a torn calf.

Can we talk GS into a Davion Mitchell for Jonathan Kuminga trade?

Maybe. Might save the duds some tax money. Both players are having down years. Change of scenery might help. I will take the 6’8 wing over the undersized PG
