Thanks for answering my questions!
i did not know what to think about the CD report on a rebuild. I guess it was wishful listening.
And really agree with Tony on the Nico matter. Fans have power, but they have to be willing to go out and demonstrate their discontent (in a legal, peaceful way).
I know from my youth a comedy program (SNL style), where they had this sketch about soccer supporters who had burned down the clubhouse and had demands of the club. Some journalist is interviewing them and asks for their demands.
Fan: “First of all, we want a new clubhouse!”
Reporter: “Why?”
Fan: “So we have something to burn when they’ll reneg on other promises.”
(It’s funnier in my head).
Oh, that reads just as funny as it must have been in person.
Reminds me of the classic Steve Martin stand up bit:
“I got some hostages. I have 3 demands. A hundred thousand in cash, getaway car and I want the letter M stricken from the English language.
See you have to make one crazy demand, that way if you get caught, you can plead insanity.
Ha… Getaway car.”
I really wish I knew what type of offensive system the Kings are trying to run. I hear “read and react” offense, which says to me there is no system. This group seems to need more structure, since they aren’t smart enough (apparently) to read what the defense is doing and how to anticipate what to do next. Should I back cut? Will he back cut? Get to the nail? It is a mess, and I don’t think the players fit the system, not does the system fit the players.
Defensively, they like to switch everything, but don’t have the personnel to do that. Nothing is cohesive, nor does it make sense.
I don’t know what system it is but imagine how bad it would be if we didn’t have a couple of those “real point guards”.
Kfan – Imagines Keon starting instead of Schoder, the defense is better and the offense is not worse, and feels sad.
The closest thing they have to an offensive facilitator is their center. Everybody else are ball-dominant combo-guard types.
Re: The release of Isaac Jones over, for example, Doug McDermott. Good teams manage their roster and payroll. Bad teams let their roster and payroll manage them. Kangzt.
100% with Will as it pertains to (a) Vivek needing to be out of the player personnel picture, and (b) a rebuild, which is still the way to go, will take more than a couple of years. And it is unattainable as long as Vivek has his little fingers in the process. The most important thing that the Kings need right now is high level collegiate and international scouting. They need to crush their next several picks.
Great pod, guys.
And here in lies a big part of the problem. I don’t think the owner is shelling out the money to have a full scouting staff. And even if he does, he treats them like everybody else in that business, shitty. Deciding he knows more than they do.
still just not sure how this gets fixed unless the owner goes?
Good show guys! TKH remains strong despite a weak ass Kings squad.
Agree with points about consistent minutes for Keon and Nique at the expense of old vets . Also, think any rebuild (if it ever happens ) with Vivek/Perry is going to be much longer than most of us can tolerate !
