Sacramento Broadcasting Legend Gary Gerould called his 3000th game for the Kings tonight, an incredible milestone and a wonderful opportunity for us to all remind the G-Man how much he means to this community. There were tributes before the game, and on air during the game. Definitely worth checking this video out:

G-Man has called a lot more bad basketball than good, but luckily the Kings took care of business tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder, delivering a win for the occasion. But the Kings didn’t stop there, the also awarded G-Man with the coveted DPOG chain, and shared the wonderful video of the moment:
In addition to the chain, they also gave G-Man the game ball, and a custom jersey with the number 3000.

It’s a heartwarming moment, and just another cherry on top of this already unbelievable season.
From all of us here at the Kings Herald, congratulations G-Man!
A humble legend. A true class act and a broadcasting treasure.
So glad he gets to call a great season like this. Looking forward to hearing him in the playoffs!
He deserves it after calling a full 16 seasons in a row of losing basketball. As fans, we get to shut off the game when it’s bad, but G-Man is there for all 48 minutes for every game. I’m so happy for him that he gets to see a good Kings team this year.
Appreciate what this man has done for so long and with unwavering quality. I’ve been a fan since the beginning and he’s an essential part of it.
Would love to have him and Jerry call a playoff series. Throw the current garrulous tv crews on the AM station and don’t plug in their microphones. Some white noise and sneakers on the hardwood would be soothing for the drive.
This season has been amazing and it’s a damn shame we gotta hear about fucking cornbread on one microphone and incessant condescending diarrhea words on the other. like non stop to get some point across that literally no one cares about and takes away from the 3 or 4 plays that have gone by since the point was brought up.
Draper isn’t off the hook either, it’s like listening to a fan watch the game “oooh that was nice!”
what was nice? what happened?
Wish Grant kept his stupid ALL CAPS responses to himself so he could have kept his job.
Don’t mean to rant. I never would have thought a tv crew would make me literally cringe. I’ve never cared about that before but I was just spoiled by Grant and Jerry for the last 20 years of being a kings fan and Christie would annoy me a bit but at least Grant was around too so he never ruined a game for me. I just mute now.
Congrats G-Man. You are really talented and your profession is unfortunately a dying art. On the plus side, maybe Vivek will employ some AI announcers in the coming seasons. I’ll take it.
I’d love to see the return of Grant and Jerry. Never cared for Grant off the court or on the radio but on the TV call him and Jerry were legit.
Every other analyst we’ve had aside from these two I can’t listen to, the few games I actually watch here and there I just keep it on mute.
Hopefully once the playoffs roll around we’ll able to simply watch the national broadcasts and not have to listen to Mark or Katy.
I don’t watch too much of the games, so what’s this about cornbread? Lol
This cockwad?

Thank you, no.
Those were the days.
Time goes on, Jerry retired and Grant increased in his douchiness and is now irrelevant. But we’ll always have the memories.
We can just wear certain attire…

.
Agree 100% ! TV crew sucks the life away from a fun and terrific team . Useless, never ending stories while a great game is played out in front !
I used to take my radio to the game and listen (in one ear) to the G man broadcast what I was seeing. He saw far more than I did. But so, for some reason, the reception is not the same in the arena this year- cannot get game.
Congrats G-Man. Pre Kings I was always proud to see G-Man in the pits of a car race or on the strip at a drag race. I was that’s our guy on national TV you know the Raley’s famous for fine beef guy. I apologize I brought a Warriors fan to the old Arco and Gary was darting up the lower bowl from pregame interviews. I was going on a rant with my buddy how bs it was he was not on the floor for the call and as Gary passed by my buddy called out love you Jerry to which Gary slowed, graciously acknowledged and professionally moved on. I wanted to beat my friend to a pulp and melt under my seat at the same time. Warrior fans? am I right?
Congrats again G-Man for presenting my home town and home team with grace and class!
Congratulations, Mr. Gerould. By my calculations you’ve been calling games for Sacramento for over 36 years. You’re preparation, passion, and honesty are impressive. I hope you get to call some winning playoff games this season. You, of all people deserve it.
Congratulations! The guy has watched so much poor and losing basketball, I`m sure he´s thrilled to witness this wonderful transformation. I know he loves his job either way, but this year…
Class act, through and through. We’ll done Kings, for honoring the humble G-man and his efforts.
Congrats to Gary!
Gary and Jerry are two Sacramento treasures.
Congrats G-Man. You’re one of a kind.
Man, they must be pumping pollen through the HVAC system this morning. My eyes are all watery.
They need a recognition piece for Gerould at the Jerry Reynolds Media Entrance. They can call it the G-Spot.
The G-Spot is obviously the name of the Gary Gerould-themed bar/club that must–MUST– soon open at DoCo. Every time someone takes a shot, a recording of Gary announces “HEEEE’S got the bucket!”
I’m afraid all of the male reporters will get lost trying to find that entrance.
Now can we get this man a seat to call games courtside again? Putting him up in the cheap seats is a travesty.
And what Brown said during the presser was great. He’s been here less than year, and he already gets this city and what’s important.
The G-man looking like the OG. And he is. A pure pleasure to listen to.
A true great in the game.
Few if any will ever be close to as great as the G-man.
Chick Hearn, Marvelous Marv Albert, Mike Breen, Kevin Harlan, Hot Rod Hundley, Ralph Lawler, Tim Roy, Johnny Most, Johnny “Red” Kerr and of course, Sacramento’s very own Gary Gerould – Just some names I think about who give or gave us basketball on the radio waves.
They are part of the fabric of mine/our basketball memories. Thank You Gary Gerould for your passion for the game and your passion for the medium of radio. Few can paint a game picture with such nimble accuracy and infuse and sustain the delight of the leather, nylon and hardwood action as we listen from afar.
So to G-Man: /Respect.
An added thank you for staying with the Sacramento Kings despite your even greater love for the NASCAR race game and your wonderful work there as well.
64 years of broadcasting!! It has left me speechless; thank goodness it hasn’t had that same effect on you!
