From our good friend James Ham over at Cowbell Kingdom, Tyreke Evans underwent an MRI on his left knee yesterday morning. Thankfully, the results came back negative.
Evans has missed three of the last four games with swelling in his knee since knocking knees with Andrei Kirilenko in last week's loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was a last minute scratch for yesterday's game against the Orlando Magic, but Head Coach Keith Smart hopes to have him available tonight against the Blazers.
On a personal note, I'd rather Evans sit tonight than risk some longer term damage. He made the mistake of trying to play through his plantar fasciitis his sophomore year and that didn't turn out well.
Evans has been playing very well as of late this season and is even showing some improvement on his jumper. In Wednesday's win against the Toronto Raptors, Evans hit two clutch three pointers to seal the deal. Over the last six games, he's shots 46% from three, 42.8% from 16-23 feet, 50% from 10-15 feet, 70.5% at the rim and 80% from the FT line (H/T HeuristicLineup). This is a Tyreke Evans that looks like he's turning the corner, and we need him healthy. Get well soon.
