Jerry makes a great point about playing Nique at least 20 minutes a night to see what he is capable of. After all, Perry traded up to get Nique. It’s not like he’s some late first round pick that they already owned and picked an 18 year old to develop for a few years. They traded future assets for a 5 year college player. He’d better get minutes, but that is going to be hard with so many guards ahead of him.

It’ll be better after we trade Monk, Keon and Keegan for S&T Kuminga for equal salary.

The roster should be blown up by the trade deadline. That’s the only thing that will get me to watch this team.

Careful what you wish for. I could see the Kangz doing some stupid shit like sending off Keegan and Monk for Jerami Grant because they can sniff the 10th seed at the deadline.

Neemias Queta, former King, now the starting center for the Celtics.
Yet another strong developing prospect dumped by the Kings.

I’m truly ambivalent this season.
As much as I enjoy rooting for the Kings, watching the games on TV (to the extent I can take any more of Mark Jones) and going to a few live games in Sac, I don’t want to give Vivek my money or attention to his product.
Increasingly the world has ultra-rich idiots controlling it. Vivek leads the pack.

I like Queta and he hopes he plays well, but I suspect that if Tatum was healthy Queta wouldn’t have been the starting center for the Celtics.

True. He is the starting center on a gap year Celtics team that sent off Holiday and Zinger for pennies on the dollar and let Horford walk. Him potentially starting for them says little about how real of an NBA player he is. If Alex Len were on the Celtics, he might be starting for them instead.

The only chance to get Vivek to change is to mock him, ridicule him, revile him, as he deserves.

That assumes a person has a sense of shame and/or any degree of self-awareness.

In the 13(?) seasons that Vivek has owned this club, I’ve yet to see him show a single ounce of either one.

Only regime change fixes this. And short of a Donald Sterling type of situation, that’s not something the NBA will ever push for, either.

No, I think it’s a matter that he wants to be admired and viewed as smart and succesful.

For instance, I believe he really thought that Stauskas was a stud and wanted to show that to the world.

I also believe that one of the reason that he brought in Vlade and now hired Doug because he knew that the fanbase would applaud him for that. I suspect he felt he’d also get the same admiration for bringing in Shaq (and Mullin), but didn’t even have the basic understanding about the Kings-Lakers dynamic.

He may not have shame, but IMO he would hate being ridiculed, boo-ed etc.

I don’t think he’s ever had an arena full of people boo or chant things at him, yet. If he got that every home game and the traction that might get online, that would definitely eat at him. He genuinely might not understand how hated he might be to a large and growing portion of the fans. There’s tons of casual fans or just people in general who probably give him the ???????? when they see him instead of the ???????? they should be.

Hitting him where it hurts most(wallet) probably isn’t truly doable with the love our fans have for the team who will always show up but the next best thing would be to hit his ego and hope the billion(s) he’d make selling his part of the team off would make him ride into the sunset.

OT: That’s an overpay for Giddey, IMO. It also means Kuminga isn’t getting the $30M a year that he wants. At this point, I’m thinking Kuminga just takes the QO and bets on himself to get paid next summer.

FROM SHAMS:Josh Giddey reaches $100M contract with Bulls – via ESPN https://t.co/nZTcXgwbVg

I don’t know about the floor, but should the Kings pull off some Kuminga deal in that range and fail to extend Keegan, it may do me in. Keegan is an all around better player than Kuminga and there should be no reason to pay the later more than the former.

Schroder, Ellis LaVine, Murray, Sabonis. What say you? I’m with Jerry. Play Clifford meaningful minutes. If you can’t trade DDR then bring him off the bench. I really would like Perry to trade DDR, Monk and Carter if possible.

Don’t hold your breath. I will be shocked if the opening day starting 5 doesn’t include Schroder, LaVine, DDR and Sabonis.

With you on the please trades, and on the preferred starting 5. Don’t see any of that actually happening though.

It’s up to Doug to make the decisions. If DDR is suppose to be on the bench so be it. When he starts that’s IMO a lot of the problem. The Kings need to play with pace and need to move the ball. With Derozan on the floor when he gets the ball he will take all of the other options for other players(Like Keegan Murray) and spend the whole time on that end of the floor getting his shot off. With the five I have starting Murray who IMO should be either the second or third option that gives him a chance to be that player. Ellis taking Derozan place on the starting five IMO is a no brainer. He is one of the top defensive players in the league. He can also shoot the ball. He needs to be on the floor period. If Derozan isn’t traded than its tough bananas if Doug puts him on the bench. If more defense is what Christie wants now you have Schroder, Ellis, and Murray. Lavine is your main offense with Murray and Sabonis next in line. As I watch LaVine to me he is a team player more so than Derozan.
A good starting five with a good backup bench.

Same. I think Vivek has exactly what he wants now – both the Head Coach and the GM are just happy to be in their roles. There’s no Popovich here – no one with a big personality and the credentials to back it up that has the gravitas to tell the owner to go f**k himself.

Vivek’s hands are, and will continue to be, all over this trainwreck, from top to bottom.

I agree with Tony, this thing is going to blow up big-time! Karma is too real, Christie and Perry are just more Vivek yes men. This organization top to bottom, including roster, are soft clowns! This will be the year all the ish hits the fan and Vivek is completely humiliated and attendance goes down. That is my hope for this season, anything better than that will be a complete disappointment.
This take is what Kangz fandom has come to, I no longer root for team success. Just organizational failure leading to actual change.

I tend to agree, and I think it happens sooner than later. Those first 20 games may be enough to throw in the towel. Put me in the camp that believes they will be 10 games below .500 before we hit December. The locker room will be lost before we turn the calendar.

Will someone burn an effigy of Vivek? Some cheesy pose while throwing up the shaka? Maybe play “They ain’t like us” while it’s happening?

Is there enough ire amongst the fans to have someone do this? It sure would put a dent in The Little Chap’s ego.

I can envision Kings PR right now:

“What fans don’t know is that we have so many starting-level players that Doug is gonna have a tough time figuring it out. But, this is a good problem to have since it means we have very good players!”

It’s the fantasy basketball mindset. “We have 5 guys that can give you 30 points on any given night!” Sounds good and all, but it don’t mean shit in the win/loss column in NBA reality.

Remember when the Kings had three 20PPG players? It doesn’t happen often on any team. Rudy, DMC, and IT all averaged 20PPG. The Kings finished with 28 wins that year.

I thought he would have been included in a trade as an unguaranteed sweetener that any team who acquired him could then cut him for nothing. Unfortunately, Perry couldn’t even take advantage of that.

The Sacramento Kings are waiving Terence Davis, league sources told @hoopshypeofficial.bsky.social. Davis had a non-guaranteed deal with a trigger date for the first game of the regular season.

All jokes aside, I don’t think that is the case. 1) The Kings can carry more than 15 rostered players into camp. 2) My guess is TD knew the writing on the wall and possibly got offered a deal overseas then asked for the Kings to get off the pot or…

It’s just too bad Perry couldn’t use an asset like a non-guaranteed deal in some sort of trade. His contract to an apron hovering team could have been useful. Oh well. Kings now have an open roster spot.
