We don’t know how much cap room the Kings have left, if any. It’s going to largely depend on the order by which the Kings’ offseason transactions technically take place when they have to file all of their paperwork with the league offices. The salary cap may be going up slightly, creating a little extra room for all 30 teams. The free agency moratorium period ends on July 8th, so we’ll have more details in the next couple of days.
With or without cap room, the Kings can continue signing players using the minimum player salary exemption. Before you think a minimum contract signing is inconsequential, it’s important to note that Omri Casspi was on a minimum contract last season. You can find contributors with it.
Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports reported yesterday that the Sacramento Kings are one of the few teams showing interest in Ryan Hollins. Hollins was the Kings 12th man for most of last season, and despite showing little on the court, he was a good veteran presence in the locker room. Hollins would be eligible for the minimum player salary exemption, and I’d have to think he’d sign for it.
What we do know is that Vivek Ranadive told Vlade Divac he wouldn't shave until Vlade was done signing players, and as of 20 hours ago, he looked like this.
