The Sacramento Kings announced Thursday that they have waived forward Louis King. King had been on a Two-Way Contract with the Kings, and had appeared in a total of 16 games between this season and last.
The move comes as a little bit of a surprise, as King had been solid in his minutes with the Kings, averaging 5.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists in his appearances. The move is likely to set up a new addition to balance the Kings roster. Following the trade deadline, Sacramento now has plenty of options at the wing, but is thin at point guard, as highlighted Wednesday against the Bulls.
Behind De’Aaron Fox and Davion Mitchell, the Kings don’t have another go-to ball handler. This is all just speculation at this point, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Kings sign another point guard on to a Two-Way contract to be available if Mitchell or Fox are out of future games.
Hello Tyreke Evans
Tyreke would not be eligible for a Two-away contract.
I still think that Lou can have himself a nice career in the NBA, and hope he gets another opportunity soon.
David Stockton?
Four years too late. We loved his game in Reno. Vlade missed it.
He was on a two-way, right? Maybe his agent asked if when the time came for a regular contract, we’d be buying, and Monte said, “No, just Lou King.”
Ok. One of my favorite comments of the year.
That is a dad joke, if I’ve ever read one
I’m not sure if anyone has his rights, but I’ve always thought Mac McClung deserved a shot at the NBA. I think he may have had a 10 day or two deals this year, but could be worthy of a two-way slot a the NBA level. The kid is averaging close to a triple-double in the G-League while scoring 20 a night.
FWIW—McClung played for the South Bay Lakers in their game on 2/15, but did not play at all in their game last night.
Yes. I liked McClung. He was fun to watch
Never saw him as more than an entertaining in game dunker.
He’s a pretty good passer that plays with a nice high motor. He doesn’t have the best shot selection and doesn’t score very efficiently, but I think he’d be an interesting enough pickup for cheap PG depth. Though his handle is a little loose for an NBA PG. At least it was in college and summer league. I can’t claim to have seen much of him since.
Jimmer Part 2 ?
Louis King was our future
King Louis. Fair thee well
Saw this at CBA FAQ – 3rd paragraph “A Two-Way player can be signed starting on July 1 (during the July Moratorium), and can be signed through January 15.”
So I guess King was waived for some thing we’re not aware of yet or Coon is wrong (unlikely, that) or … kangz?

King was brought in on a TWC well after January 15th last season. I’m wondering if the rules have been altered a bit because of COVID.
In fact, I know they have been. I’m just wondering if those rules remained in effect this season like they were last.
And apparently this is the case. There are no rules for how many days a TWC player can be on the roster this year. I didn’t realize that, but didn’t pay much attention to it either. But TWC players don’t count towards roster salary which is why teams love them.
It is also true that there used to be a cutoff date to sign TWC players, but now there is not. It’ll be interesting to see how this continues to play out into next season.
A little light on point guards huh?
Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
No matter who owns or runs this organization.
Its gotta be a Kurse. At this point, the only logical explanation left.
It’s quite amazing.
It’s not a curse. It’s what Vivek called NBA 3.0, run by a billionaire whose daughter played high school basketball.
The old owners were not much better.
PreVivek
King was a King. Now King is a commoner.
Play-in here we come!
When you’re in such fierce contention for being the the top team amongst the non-playoff-bound worst 1/3 of teams in your conference, moves like this make all the difference. Kings could end up winning 30 games instead of 29 adding another guard to the rotation.
