Let’s go Kings!
Carter looks bad again.
So bad…not only does he look like he’s going to turn it over on every possession, he also looks like he’s going to trip himself 50% of the time. He just doesn’t look like an NBA player.
He is quick to give yhe ball to another player, like a hot potato, but in situations where he isn’t even being pressured.
I noticed that as well. He’s supposed to be a PG/SG but doesn’t even want the ball. How he was a lottery pick is beyond me. He is an undersized SG and not a PG. I guess that’s why the Kings signed Dennis S. He is by far the worst draft pick by Monte McNair with Haliburton his best.
The Monte Special. Ware was the obvious pick.
I. Jones best player in the game thus far !
He’s bullying Mogbo, Chomche, and Murray-Boyles!
Guard play not very encouraging . Terrible against pressure .
That was nearly an epic choke job. Lucky to get the win. Great game by Ike Jones.
Without Isaac we get blown out.
Carter’s body language was troubling in terms of ball handling. I’m rooting for the guy, but his PG skills aren’t where they need to be.
The Raptors defense was impressive. Jamal Shead was flying around.
Too bad we sent Shead, Off Night, Vezenkov, and a 2nd round pick to Toronto.
At least Jalen McDaniels is lighting it up for us.
Why not Mason Jones as our backup point guard?
I am reluctant to be critical of a player in a LVSL game.
However, I was thinking before this game and again in the fourth period about GM Perry’s interview comments about what the organization wanted to see from Devon Carter. Perry noted that Devon needs, among other things, to commit to being in NBA elite conditioning to be ready to perform at an NBA level no matter what position he is playing.
In today’s game against the Raptors, in the 4th quarter, Carter was either gassed or coasting on D, a strength of his game. Or, perhaps, he assumed with a double digit lead the Kings had the game won. One of those possibilities is forgivable. Being gassed. Coasting or assuming a win are not. No mead is safe in professional basketball, no matter the level. That’s a fundamental principle in current NBA game.
Doug was sitting right there not too far from me watching him. Devon was walking and was letting his man, on offense, get separation into the corner and sure enough the Raptors player took a pass and buried a 3 which was a springboard in energizing the rest of the Raptors teammates. The Raptors immediately made it a game.
Perry’s challenge and advice to Devon was very short, precise and to the point. Be in elite shape so you can play in the NBA and contribute to the organization.
He didn’t meet that standard today, in a semi final game, at least to my eyeball test. It was disappointing to watch. He is not a point guard. He may become one someday, but his “road is long with many a winding turn”, to steal a musical phrase.
He can’t handle the ball, he’s short, not athletic enough to make up for his height, can’t shoot…how was he such a high pick?! Kangz.
Right now I can’t argue at all with that assessment.
I was disappointed today, but I’ll survive.
I want to see him after a training camp. See if he steps up his conditioning.
Even if he does, currently he is not a Point Guard.
Thomas Robinson’d again
*Devin…
How wonderful that the Sacramento Kings Summer Lesgue squad is going to the Finals. Good on them!
We’ve focused on the players – Devin Carter, ‘Nique Clifford, Maxime Raynaud as well as Mason Jones and Isaac Jones among others (Cardwell, Nogues, Stevens)
But what about coaching?
The Summer League squad is headed by Dipesh Mistry.
Here’s a cut and paste from NBA.com
Good luck tomorrow! They will face the Charlotte Hornets.
The Bugs have rookie Kon Kneuppel (4th pick), Kalkbrenner, 2nd year KJ Simpson (last year’s 42nd pick – Raynaud is this year’s).
Go Kings! Light The Sphere!????
Thanks, UTQ. Until now, Dipesh’s background was just a Mistry to me.
Ryerson?
How about this: (from Professor OAK on X.com)
The Kings going on to win their 3rd SL title would be the definitive example of “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”
3 Rangz, let’s get it.

Large market NBA teams tend to perform better due to their financial advantages, which allow them to outspend smaller market teams in player acquisition and infrastructure. This leads to higher payrolls, more resources for player development, and greater exposure, ultimately creating a cycle of success
-I. Jones was out there looking like Pascal.
-DC needs time in Stockton lol.
-Max and Nique have rotational players written all over them.
Nostradumbass predication says with 99% probability Devin Carter is an “include” to some Kings trade this season.
His body language through 5 summer league games almost tells me he knows he’s already on the block.
Wouldn’t be his body language be a lot more positive then…
LOL, maybe he’s a bball masochist, like us?
Blade Trinity is still the best basketball movie I’ve ever seen.
DC will be a Davion 2.0.
He’ll be ok and show glimpses and get shipped to another team where he becomes a good role player.
Maybe, maybe not. I’m confident he is an NBA player, but I don’t know what role he currently has with the Kings, much like how the Kings really weren’t the right fit for Davion.
Asinine trade idea for a Sunday morning cup of coffee:
With the Lakers signing Smart to a two year $11M dollar deal, they have put themselves into a position where they must cut salary and open a roster spot to complete the signing. The story is they are going to cut Shake Milton (who has a unguaranteed deal that expires TODAY) and possibly Aaron Goodwin (who the seem to really like).
My alternative proposal: Lakers get Monk and TD (who also has a unguaranteed deal) for Vanderbilt, Gabe Vincent, and Dalton Knecht.
Lakers clear cap and roster space for Smart, are able to keep Goodwin, can still cut Milton and can keep or cut TD until a later date. It gives the Laker more future flexibility and they get a secondary playmaker and scorer in Monk.
Kings get a defensive wing in Vanderbilt, a serviceable backup PG in Vincent (who is also on an expiring deal) and a rookie scale prospect and wing in Knecht.
I’d say this is a very fair and sensible trade for both parties. Monk makes ton of sense for them as a 6th man scorer off the bench, especially come playoff time and he’d alleviate some of the load on Luka.
Call this one into Perry.
Kings continue to be linked to B. Simmons. I like taking a flyer on him. The ship has more than likely sailed, but if he comes cheap, why not.
Clips appear to be considering signing CP3. That would be awesome. Another nostalgic signing after Dame going back to Portland.
Clips have a fun team of vets, if only this was 2018!:
Harden
CP3?
Beal
Leonard
Brook Lopez
Bogi
Patty Mills (who knew he was still around)
