The Sacramento Kings are planning to sign Emmanuel Mudiay to a 10-day hardship contract, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Sacramento Kings are planning to sign free agent guard Emmanuel Mudiay to a 10-day deal, sources tell ESPN. Mudiay had been playing in Europe this season. He's expected to be available on Wednesday vs. the Clippers.

Mudiay was the 7th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, one pick after the Kings selected Willie Cauley-Stein. Since then Mudiay has had a journeyman career playing for the Nuggets, Knicks and Jazz, and was playing in Europe this season. In his six NBA seasons Mudiay averaged 11 points, 3.8 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game.
Woj reports Mudiay is expected to be available for Wednesday’s game against the Clippers.
Dude was a draft favorite by many. Interesting how careers twist and turn. This is a guy that could actually still stick somewhere.
He theoretically is a ball handler, so that will be nice to watch
That’ll be great. We haven’t seen a guy handle his balls since Quincy Douby.
Buddy is a ball handler too…
It’s crazy that he’s still just 25. Here’s to a new lease on NBA life!
So we just acquired back to back lottery picks in 2015 and didn’t have to give up Fox or Hield to get them? Beautiful! Let’s do this with the other drafts too Monte!
Bing in Stanley Johnson and we have Connect Four!
Who else did we get?
WCS and Kaminsky,
Is Hezonja available?
What? We resigned those two also? I totally missed that.
What? Now? No.
On the topic of former first round picks, let’s ask Tyreke to apply for reinstatement and get him here.
Now, is Stromile Swift still available?
We already have him. His name is Marvin Bagley.
That’s a future MVP you’re talking about
DNP – MVP. It is all part of the wonderful alphabet soup that is your Sacramento Kings!
I need to go back and pull some of my comments from 2015, so we can teach the kids that dreams do come true to those who persevere!
Somebody needs to summarize and analyze the 2021 Covid Draft.
My only take away so far is this: IT went before Jimmer and therefore a small tear in the space-time continuum has been fixed.
He plays defense, right?
So much potential with Mudiay. The ship has probably sailed, but I like the idea of giving him a tryout under these circumstances.
He could improve the team’s mental make-up by creating a more positive Mudiay for the team.
You know, it’s not like good comedy comes with an Emmanuel to help the audience recognize it!
Hey guys and gals. Do I get a prize or something for making Andy leave? 😉

100 ZillerBucks.

Certainly, what caliber would you prefer?
Meh. I don’t think this is bad, but def not any kind of game changer.
That’s McNair in a nutshell!
That’s weird, pretty much every other hardship signing this month has been a guarantee that the team would turn into a contender.
What on earth are you talking about?
Mudiay has a higher 3pt % than Fox.

My first thought when I saw this was “Wait, Mudiay isn’t a backup PG somewhere in the NBA already?” He always seemed like an ok player to me – how did he end up in Europe?
This team at full health has an awkward guard rotation but if Mudiay can show something – even if it’s just as a 3rd option combo guard – it might make trading one of them a lot easier.
Because he can’t shoot, and he only theoretically plays defense. His size kept him around for a few years, but eventually the lack of sufficient basketball skills landed him overseas.
Mudiay isn’t really the guy I was thinking of, but I was just thinking the other day that, were they to trade Fox, it would be really nice to pick up a big PG/Combo guard type. Something Derrick White-ish.
2015, Kings passed on Mudiay to get Willie Cauley-Stein, oh well. IMHO that’s how the NBA draft generally works. Kings now get Mudiay anyway. What’s the deal with the regular Kings? What exactly are the health and safety protocols? Does it mean you’re out for a positive test for COVID, or just exposure to someone who got a positive test? How long after a positive test does a player have to be out? What about Richaun Holmes? HIs injury must be more serious than originally reported. I hope when he comes back he starts wearing Kareem goggles. What about players getting COVID twice after also being vaccinated? Kind of scary for the rest of us too.
I hope he’s rocking some Rambis goggles.
That just means we get Luka next.
He is going into protocols just to engineer a hardship transfer to the Kings.
You dont want to mess with eye injuries. Sounds like he had to go in for a procedure on the eye afterwards, which is scary.
My understanding is they’re clear to return after two negative tests 24 hours apart.
If it was just exposure to someone that tested positive, then the entire team would be out unless the test results came in quickly enough.
Covid is going to provide a quick cash boost for a lot of these NBA washouts over the next couple months.
It’s Alex Oriakhi’s time.
I wonder what Sim Bhullar is up to.
Q: I wonder what Sim Bhullar is up to.
A: About 325 lbs.
I remember now, this is the guy who played in China instead of college in America. It will be interesting to see if he is in condition. Lot of talent and just 25. I am hopeful.
DeLon Wright redux?
