The Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns are each playing for nothing more than ping pong balls, and it showed in this game. While this wasn’t a boring game, it was a very ugly game. Execution was lacking by both teams for much of the night. But we got to see plenty of the youngsters for both teams.
Buddy Hield finished with a career high 30 points on 20 shots. He also displayed some impressive handles, far beyond what he was supposed to be capable of based on predraft scouting.
Georgios Papagiannis had a nice night, finishing with 13 points, seven rebounds, and a block. He displayed some really nice passing, and continued to show some nice touch around the basket.
Willie Cauley-Stein put on a display, hitting all manner of shots from all over the floor. He’s really been fun to watch in the second half of this year, and we can only hope this is a sign of what’s to come next year and beyond.
Ty Lawson notched a triple double, which I believe means he’s in the MVP conversation now. Lawson finished with 22 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds.
Skal Labissiere has 12 points, six rebounds, and two assists. He was aggressive in attacking the basket, but wasn’t able to find a rhythm throughout the night.
But the highlight of the night was definitely the kerfuffle between Papa G and Dragan Bender.
