As the doldrums of the NBA offseason come to a close, and as the Sacramento Kings approach the pre-preseason period known as training camp, Will and I would love to open up a mailbag to answer your questions about the upcoming season. After 20 days of reading our questions, take your revenge and ask your own!
Have a question about Sasha Vezenkov’s age increasing by the day? Ask away!
Have a question about Harrison Barnes not losing his starting spot to Sasha Vezenkov? Ask away!
Have a question about Sasha Vezenkov’s trade value? Ask away!
Have a question about Trey Lyles playing over Sasha Vezenkov? Ask away!
Have a question about overrated players? Ask away!
Anyway, you get the point. Throw your questions down below, and Will and I will answer as many as possible – perhaps even ones not having to do with Sasha Vezenkov.
Can this iteration of the Kings win a playoff series this year? Who do you think will step up from last season? Will we get another All-Star this year? And the most important question: Will Keegan express more emotions this year?
How many shots Sasha probably be taking per game ?
He is such a great shooter that should take more shots, but he probably play along with Monk.
Also, Lyles gonna shoot the ball too
Which Kings player will have the most surprising year? Good or Bad.
and
Which Kings player will be traded this year?
What 5 players do you expect on the court as the closing lineup in close games?
All depends who is playing the best at the time. One lineup could be Fox, Mitchell, Monk, Murray and Sabonis
Will the kings herald have a social media presence on Bluesky?
will Domas ever develop a reliable midrange game?
YES!
If you had to bet on one player adding a new wrinkle to their game, what player would it be, and what wrinkle? (Fox or Davion 3pt, Domas Middy, Keegan Reb, Edwards 3pt, Fox defense, other)
Fox shooting 40% from three at a high volume would put him in superstar status.
Won’t happen. I’ll take 36% any day.
Keegan’s role last season was to be the 5th option on the offensive (behind Sabonis, Fox, Huerter, Barnes, or Monk depending on who he’s on the floor with at the time). The Kings are pushing him to more aggressive this season so what option will he end up at this season? Will he be the 3rd or 4th option? Options 1 and 2 are Sabonis and Fox so I don’t think he beats them out. I think he passes Barnes for sure but can he displace Monk or Huerter as an offensive option?
Same question applies somewhat to Sasha. This being his first season in the NBA I think they’ll take a more conservative approach in establishing his role but given his experience at the pro level he could advance quickly.
O Murray will be the third option on the starting 5. Barnes will probably start the season as he has earned that but Sasha, if he has a good training camp and preseason will replace Barnes early as the PF puting Murray at the SF where I think he belongs.
Point Differential:
Will the Kings point diff from last season go up or down this season? (last season they were 8th in the League at +2.65)
If so: Will the Kings score/less more points or hold their opponents to less/more points this season compared to last?
What is the analysis on this year’s roster vs last year? Will Domas achieve 10+ assists with this current roster? What about Fox dropping 28-30 ppg some time in his career or is this roster too deep for that?
Are there any lineups that you feel excited about in the coming season? What would you guess will be the team’s most effective/common closing lineup this season?
There are a couple but one might be Fox, Huerter, Murray, Vezenkov and Sabonis.
If Huerter and Vezenkov can have an impact on defense, then this is a good closing lineup. If Mitchell develops a good shot he might take Huerter’s place
Agree.
Brown did plenty of offense/defense substitutions with those two last season, and I’d guess that will continue.
Sasha comes with much hype from the EuroLeague, but is always discussed as just a bench player. Do you think he can crack the starting lineup on skill alone? Or would a trade need to happen?
Imo he can be a starter but will have to wait and see.
What would a Giannis trade look like, and would it even be worth pursuing? (My vote is no but these are the dog days of the NBA offseason)
He is a great player but like Anunoby he has hurt issues. I say no.
Uh yes it would absolutely be worth pursuing a 28-year-old generational talent who routinely challenges for both MVP and DPOY.
If you say yes then what would the Kings have to give up to get him?
This dunk will definitely make the highlights.
Not many players with significant playing time last year are gone, but we’ve added at least one player who may command a decent amount of playing time. So where do those minutes come from? Barnes?
If you are talking about Sasha then those mniutes probably will come from Barnes.
So apparently “the beam” is actually four individual beams….what happens if you cross them?
why would you want to make The Beam Team angry?
Some very important questions:
Is Big Time Brenden Nunes too big for us now?
Will there be a new Beam Button 3.0?
Who will be the first Kings player to push the Beam Button?
Will we get a new Pizza Guy?
Which player will be the first to go on Covid protocols?
Will Sasha like In n Out?
Will the vets make Sasha perform all the rookie duties that Keegan had last year?
You joke but “Will the vets make Sasha perform all the rookie duties that Keegan had last year?” is already in my notes for a Sasha 30Q lol
These are questions but do any of them mater when it comes to playoffs and championships?
Yes.
“All questions matter.”
-Grant Napear
Yeah right! We will neverget a championship until we get a new pizza guy.
Keegan and Malik for a Pizza Guy duet.
From a bit of a broader perspective: is there any team in the league that might be close to breaking down/going on a firesale? If so, are there any pieces on them that might be a good buy-low candidate for the Kings?
Now that the new CBA is done, next up is the NBA’s cable/viewing rights set to expire in 2025. PHX is already trying something new with free broadcasting, no cable needed, via antenna to their local market.
What do you think will be the future of viewing for the NBA/Kings, especially for those in local blackout markets. Also, I’d love to see a breakdown/poll of how us current fans are watching the NBA.
Will Huerter’s shooting slump have ended by the time the season starts?
Is it too early for MM to consider including Keegan in trades?
Every player has slumps its what they do to get better. Huerter will do that. He is that good of a player. MM isn;t going to trade Murray now or in the future.
I can hear Tyrese Haliburton clearing his throat all the way from Indianapolis.
