This is a strong hire for the Sacramento Kings. Aside from his year of head coaching experience, Kokoskov has 18 years of experience as an NBA assistant, working under coaches including Alvin Gentry, Larry Brown, and Quin Snyder. Before being hired by the Suns he was considered one of the top assistants in the league. Although he only lasted one season in Phoenix, a lot of that can be chalked up to…*waves hand in general direction of Phoenix ownership and front office*.
Kokoskov is the presumed lead assistant on Luke Walton’s staff and would be a likely candidate to take over as head coach in the case that Walton were to be let go following the results of the independent investigation. Kokoskov joins a growing staff that includes Bob Beyer, Jesse Mermuys, Roy Rana and Bobby Jackson.
