The Sacramento Kings announced its NBA Summer League roster, featuring a blend of newcomers and some familiar names. Fans will be able to watch this year’s draft picks Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud for the first time, as well as some players returning from last season: Isaac Jones, Devin Carter, Isaiah Crawford and Mason Jones. Jabri Abdur-Rahim, son of former King Shareef Abdur-Rahim also will be on the roster.
The Kings will begin Summer League on Thursday against the Orlando Magic.
Below is the full roster.

Kuminga is not on the SL roster. Hmm.
Ha. And some on here wonder why I and others don’t want Kuminga- warriors are getting no/shit offers for Kuminga. Only the Kings. Only team w a stupid enough owner to give up anything for him.
And I’d much rather see what Carter becomes than trade him and Monk for Kuminga. (And 2nd rounders)
It’s jus another short sighted dumb attempted move by the Kings.
I hope Carter shows out and the rooks- so maybe they’ll stop this dumb pursuit.
Really, just watching and hoping that either the team completely falls apart to put pressure on the stupid owner or somehow they get lucky despite themselves and build a team. I doubt it.
It does make more sense to keep DC than to include him in a Kuming SnT.
Kuminga is going to be expensive, and DC is on a rookie deal and is basically our FRP this year since he missed most of last yr.
I see this as our 2025 rookie class:
DC
French kid
Nique
A bit surprised that Shareef allowed his son to have anything to do with Vivek’s Kings.
I would really like to see Carter be the lead ball handler and primary initiator, with Nique being the secondary creator/initiator. I don’t think Carter will ever be a primary initiator, or even a secondary, and now is the time to see if he can handle a bigger role. He seems a lot like Gary Payton II to me.
Really looking forward to see what Maxime does, and what type of role they give him. Should be a fun team.
I like the idea of giving Carter real minutes running point to see what he’s got. Clifford can bounce between SG & SF, depending on who else is on the floor.
GP2 is a good potential comp and I’d be thrilled. I agree with you and I hope we’re actually running some real offense out there with 3-4 players who will likely be seeing good rotation minutes this season for us. DC, Nique, Jones, and Maxime is a solid starting 4 to throw out there. Could also potentially be our 2nd unit this season too so let them get some good run.
Haven’t been excited for SL since Keegan
If the GP2 comp is accurate, you’d think the Dubs would count him as a prospect for the Kuminga offer since they haven’t seemed interested in re-signing the real GP2. DC is younger and cheaper.
DC should show out in SL
Seems Carter has been working on his PG skills and will be the primary ball handler for Summer League:
Rangz!

BTW who are these ppl?
Damien Jefferson, Robert Woodard, Neemias Queta (?), Louis King, Alex Antetokounmpo, DJ Steward, Jonathan Williams, Jahmi’us Ramsey
Nets with 5 First round picks is an interesting question as well.
Here is the Brooklyn Summer League roster.
Drew Timme sighting! From my google research: TJ Bamba is not related to Mo Bamba.
On the Kings side, I am interested/curious/excited to get eyes on Dylan Cardwell, the new TWC who looked like a defense force for Auburn. Isaac Nogues as well.
The irony here is the Kings summer league roster actually looks rather stacked…it terms of Summer League. The Kings continually field a better Summer League roster than they do an NBA roster for their respective leagues.
An aside, I keep seeing other teams announcing all kinds of signings, including 2nd round picks to defined contracts. I go the Kings homepage and there is nothing official on anything, not even the JV for Saric deal which has already been finalized by the league. What the hell is going on?
Hope this helps:
From my research:
Wow, so Perry gave the #42 pick a regular contract and not a 2-way deal? I guess if you have to fill a 14 man roster it’s cheaper to sign your 2nd round picks than it is minimum deals.
Still, I’m surprised they did that, why not just sign him to a 2-way, see how summer league and camp goes, then make a decision to give him a regular deal. To sign him eats up cap space before you’ve even completed free agency and trades.
Signing Sugar Raynaud™ to less than $2M/season for two with a TO third isn’t going to get any sweeter than that. I think he’s Kyle Filipowski, Quentin Post but let’s see.
I think what we are seeing with 2nd round picks are agents reaching out to see where they can get their guy(s) the best guarantee, and then getting buy-in from teams to pass if they won’t step up to the offer. We kind of saw it with TJP and Golden State a couple of years ago. My blind guess is that other teams were interested in Raynaud, but not a to year guarantee. The Kings stepped up, the other teams got out of the way, and a late 1st round prospect was had at 42. And given that it takes a couple of years to flesh out a prospect (especially a big), I don’t mind the investment. Heck, I’m thrilled that we didn’t just sell the pick.
And it’s not as if he can’t spend a bunch of time in Stockton if it’s determined to be the best plan in the near-term.
You’re right, it does seem like recently 2nd round picks have “pre-negotiated” their deals before the draft. It’s also evidenced by the flurry of 2-way deals that are signed moments after the draft ends. If you don’t get a 2nd round promise, you might as well guarantee a 2-way. It’s almost like an unofficial 3rd round.
yes
If he’s the second coming of Dirk or the new Naz Reid or Lil’ Wemby they can always sign him for more. They would (or should) be delighted to do so.
Naz Reid.
You continue to demonstrate an uncanny mastery of the aposiopesis
Bravo and well done, sir. Please honor us in follow up with a non-sequitur.
The latest CBA allowed teams to sign second round picks for 3 years. The old one had a two year limit. Signing to the regular roster helps develop and keep the player.
For this reason high second round picks are as valuable as late FRP. Agents will often steer clients to teams that promise a signing offer. This, apparently, is what occurred with MR and the Kings. We got lucky
The signing is much better than a 2 way
I’m sorry, but Clarkson signing for just $3.6M and the Kings are over paying Schroder at $14.1M is just malpractice as a GM. The only other player to take the full MLE was Caris LeVert from Detroit. D’Angelo Russel only cost $5.6M, Ty Jerome was signed at $8.8M, and Tyus Jones at $7M. Kings are going to be paying Schroder at twice the market value.
Sacramento tax. Gotta offer over market value for players to come to the poop show in the G1C knowing it’s play-in or bust.
Stuff like this (Denver fans delighted to be away from Dario Saric), doesn’t help, btw:
Nuggslove
That’s brutal. I read elsewhere it’s being viewed as the worst straight up trade thus far this offseason.
Trading JV allowed the Kings to sign DS to the full MLE at the Sacramento tax. Bad trade but JV probably did not fit into the long term plan (in part, because there not be one)
Clarkson wanted to play for the Knicks. Though the owners have done their best to limit it, the players still have free will and free agents can play for whomever they wish.
Everything that happens in the NBA that doesn’t benefit the Kings isn’t evidence of some boneheaded action/inaction by the organization.
Besides, if Clarkson came to Sacramento people would be complaining about signing yet another guard ho doesn’t play defense.
I’m not complaining about Clarkson. I don’t want him here. I’m just pointing out that it’s been a totally depressed market in free agency and the Kings are reportedly blowing their entire MLE on a player in the same tier of players that are going for half the price, or less, around the league.
“Same tier” … maybe.
Do you have him below Russell? I sure as hell don’t have Schroder above him.
You kind of are, though.
Had Clarkson been offered trade exception money in Sacramento, one of two things would have happened:
It could be an overpay for Schroder, but that isn’t the reason that no premium free agents have been signed. No one fitting that description considers taking an MLE deal, with the exception of wanting to play for a team with a legit chance. I don’t even consider Clarkson to be a top-tier free agent in that he’s pretty one-dimensional.
Sacramento wasn’t going to be competitive this season (barring some completely unexpected circumstance), and if having a point guard helps in the process of even one of the draftees becoming NBA players, then that’s a successful season.
Sims, I’m not saying I’d prefer to have Clarkson at $3.6M over Schroder at $14.1M. I don’t want Clarkson at all. I’m just pointing out that other combo guards, many of whom are 6th men just like Schroder, are garnering half of what the Kings are going to pay Dennis. The Clarkson link above was just fuel to what all the other combo guards are getting. If you prefer, compare the Schroder signing to what Russell got in Dallas to be their starter this year.
To be clear, I’m fine if the Kings want Schroder to be their PG for whatever process they are following. My only complaint is the price. He is one of only two guys getting the full MLE. Detroit is handing out the other one, but they are looking to make a contending leap in a very weak East. It just feel like a gross overpay for a guy who I 100% believe wouldn’t be getting the full MLE from any other team.
Just taking a quick look, the only other teams that still have use of their full MLE are: Nets, Hornets, Bulls, Pacers, Warriors, Blazers, Jazz, and Wiz. That’s it, and I don’t think any of those teams pay Schroder $14M.
None of those teams need Schroeder. They either have young guards already, or established players at the position. Kings have neither of those.
They paid based on need (which I don’t think they should have). They were kind of in a bind to fill the position, and overpaying Schroder was the way they thought to go.
Yes, but a little context… Jones was signed to be backup PG to a guy getting $150M over 5 years (Suggs); Jerome is getting paid to be backup SG/PG to a guy making $197M over 5 years (Morant). Schroeder is being signed to be the starting PG.
Yeah, and that is the problem I have. He’s a career backup. He shouldn’t get paid more just because a team has anointed him a starter. By that logic, would Jerome or Jones deserve the full MLE to come to Sac to be the starting PG? Russell is going to be starting for Mavs for what might be the whole season. Should he get the full MLE as well?
I don’t know that he’s being paid more because the Kings are anointing him as a starter. I think it’s more that the Kings were desperate for a point guard, had very few options (particularly if you consider who would be willing to join them), so basically Schroeder’s agent was able to extort the Kings for more money.
So…amateur hour by Scott Perry then? It seems like the Kings were negotiating against themselves.
Perry is a moron who doesn’t know and / or care about building a sustainable winner. He’s a play in chaser.
Kings actually used the Huerter TPE, not the MLE. They still have the MLE to use for…whatever.
I don’t believe so as they are now hard capped thanks the S&T of Schroder, with just a few million below the apron. It’s available to them, if they can clear the space. My rough math has them at around $9M below the first apron. I guess if they include Carter and Saric in a trade for Kuminga they could squeeze him in, but they still need more live bodies to reach 14 rostered players.
From James Ham:
According to a league source, the Kings are set to acquire Dennis Schroder using part of the $16.8m TPE from the Kevin Huerter trade. Deal should be completed in the next day or so. Kings will acquire a future second. Detroit lands a trade exception.
Schröder has played starter minutes for most of his NBA career .. Jones has the last 3 years; Jerome never.
It tells you what the market might be thinking.
Excellent comps.
That Shroder signing at that amount is ridiculous and shows that Perry is going to be just as bad as MM.
Shout out to the G-League champs on the roster!
