Ford had a strong run in Summer League and could challenge for the Kings' last two-way contract.

The Kings have signed guard Jordan Ford to a training camp deal, per Sean Cunningham of Fox 40.

This was an obvious move for Sacramento, given Ford’s performances with the Stockton Kings last year and in the 2023 Summer League contests. Across 32 games of the 2022-23 G League regular season, Ford averaged 14.7 points and 4.8 assists while shooting 49.7% from the filed and 40.1% from deep. The former Folsom High Bulldog was also one of the Kings best players across the California Classic and Vegas Summer League games this year, and averaged 16.3 points and 5.3 assists in the 4 contests in Las Vegas.

Ford’s shooting prowess has never been in question; he shot above 40% from deep in each of the past three regular seasons in the G League, and shot 41.6% from deep across his 4-year career at Saint Mary’s College. He’s a strong playmaker, leading both the Stockton Kings and the summer league squads in assists per game, and showed an improved ability to get to and finish around the rim in summer league, even against taller defenders. The Kings could always use more shooters, especially at the guard position. But the looming NBA question for Ford has always been his ability to defend at a high level, given that he is undersized (6’1 and 175 lbs) against many NBA guards.

After securing Keon Ellis and rookie Jalen Slawson to two-way contracts this summer, the Kings have one final two-way contract for next season; as Cunningham noted, it seems likely that Sacramento could offer that last deal to Ford, which would allow him to play with both the Stockton club and in Sacramento (for up to 50 NBA games) this season.

Technically the Kings have just one roster and one two-way spot left since they sit at 14 guaranteed deals and 2 two-ways.

They can invite more to camp, but they don’t have any partially guaranteed deals that are easy to cut. It wouldn’t surprise me if they leave the last spot open for anything unknown coming in the future.

I’d chalk up the Ford invite to the same as Skal. This leaves a pathway to keep each in Stockton if they don’t make the final roster.

2 way would be perfect.

This leaves an open slot for a quick contingency

As far as I can tell, he’s the only one on the team eligible for the last 2-way contract and I can’t think of anyone more deserving. Good for him.

I know this is irrelevant, but if I’m Queta in that moment, I’m asking Jordan… bro WhyTF are you looking at me like that?

There’s still no actual super depth guard yet, right? Fox, RedV, Monk, Davion, ?????? Aside from the ginger, they can all play either guard spot – this seems like Ford’s in competition with Keon Ellis for the last slot on the 15 man roster.

I like Ford but would take Ellis.Bigger better defender. He can also shoot the 3. He has worked hard and deserves the chace.

The Sacramento Kings’ decision to sign Jordan Ford to a training camp deal is a strategic move, especially considering his strong performance with the Stockton Kings in the G League and his impressive showing in the 2023 Summer League. Ford’s ability to shoot from deep and his playmaking skills make him a valuable asset. However, there are concerns about his size and defensive abilities against taller NBA guards.

Just as the Kings are making strategic decisions for their team, individuals should also make strategic decisions when it comes to their careers. One key aspect of this is having a professional resume. A well-crafted resume can be a game-changer, just like a good signing for a basketball team. It’s your ticket to job opportunities and career growth.

In today’s digital age, you don’t have to do it all alone. Online resume services can be incredibly beneficial. Whether you’re in Sacramento or any other city like Boston, resume services boston can help you create a standout resume that showcases your skills and experiences effectively. They understand the importance of tailoring your resume to the job you’re seeking and can provide valuable insights to help you land your dream job.

So, just as the Kings are making smart moves to strengthen their team, consider investing in professional resume services to strengthen your career prospects. A well-crafted resume can be your key to securing that contract with your desired employer, just as Jordan Ford is working to secure his spot on the Kings’ roster.
