Report: Kings have at least three potential deals in place for the 8th pick

By | 0 Comments | Feb 28, 2019

It's looking less and less likely that the Kings will actually pick someone at the 8th spot on Thursday. Earlier today we heard rumors that the Bulls were looking to potentially move up to 8 and we've heard all month that Sacramento has been actively shopping the pick. Now it looks as if the Kings aren't just shopping but have actual deals on the table to choose from.

From ESPN's Andy Katz:

From this report it seems likely that the Kings will probably use the 8th pick to move down in the draft while also snagging a veteran player. As for who the three teams that are potentially involved in these deals are, nobody can say for sure yet, but we can narrow the list down a bit when we look at teams with assets to give as well as veteran players.

Teams in bold are teams that I think are more likely than others. Teams in italic are teams that I think are very unlikely. That's just my opinion of course.

So in my opinion, the most likely candidates are Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Orlando, Phoenix, Atlanta and Chicago. Each of those teams can offer the Kings quality picks and veteran players that would be an upgrade at a position for Sacramento. Of course, Thursday's still a ways away and it's very possible these deals the Kings potentially have on the table multiply or even dwindle depending on what other action happens at or before the draft. It should be an exciting few days.
