Stockton Kings head coach Lindsey Harding is leaving Stockton to join JJ Redick’s staff with the Los Angeles Lakers as an assistant coach, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. This is a great opportunity for Harding, and well-deserved promotion.

Harding had a great season with Stockton last year, earning G League Coach Of The Year honors after leading the Kings to a 24-10 record and a first-place finish in the Western Conference. Harding had also been a candidate for the Charlotte Hornets head coaching job this offseason. Harding had been on the Sacramento Kings coaching staff as a player development coach prior to being promoted to the head coach for Stockton. In all, Harding spent just under a year with Stockton.
We’ll keep an eye on the Stockton vacancy in the weeks to come, as the Kings have now had several departures from Mike Brown’s staff this summer. Jordi Fernandez was hired as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, and has taken Deividas Dulkys and Dutch Gaitley with him to Brooklyn. So far, the Kings have not announced any additions to the staff.
We wish Coach Harding personal success while also rooting against the Lakers. Congratulations!
Correction: The Kings have made one addition to Mike Brown’s staff. There were reports that the Kings added Riccardo Fois, who has worked with the Italian National Team as well as working with Pepperdine, Arizona, Gonzaga, and Phoenix.
That’s good for her.
A sign of success is that your assistants get poached. She deserves this. While the Kings have plenty of coaches, 4 have left.
Doug and Luke have moved up. I wonder if that factored into her decision.
But, good for her.
I’m very happy for her, she’s earned it.
But why did it have to be the Lakers?
I thought the Kings made at least one addition to the staff recently.
Yes, you are correct. I had missed that addition but am updating the story.
She will regret it when LeBron tells her to shut up and sit down.
Congratulations Lindsay. But I’m gonna have to go from cheering you to booing you!
Maybe PJ Carlisimo, Hubie Brown, and Mike Fratello can round out the coaching staff.
Well-deserved. I would have liked to wish her luck.
Super bummed she’s leaving but it’s a big opportunity and she’ll have a front row ticket to the reality show that will be the Lakers this season.
Coaches coach and with success, they coach some more and are paid at a higher rate.
Whatever faces Coach Harding at Laker Land she will handle it, no doubt. Perhaps this will be a springboard to more and better. Look at Becky Hammon who was part of the San Antonio Spur staff with Coach Popovich and has been Las Vegas Aces Head Coach since 2021.
Future looks bright for Coach Harding. Grats!
I wonder when the first female head coach will happen?
NBA is light years ahead of MLB, NFL and NHL (for obvious reasons) in terms of female coaches.
i put the over / under at 2034.
