Mike Brown is adding Leandro Barbosa to his Sacramento Kings coaching staff according to a report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania:
Golden State Warriors player development coach Leandro Barbosa is accepting an offer to be an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings under Mike Brown, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.
— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) July 2, 2022
Barbosa has been a player development coach with the Warriors since 2020, working alongside Mike Brown. Barbosa played in the NBA from 2003 to 2017, winning an NBA Championship as a member of the Warriors in 2015.
In his introductory press conference Mike Brown had alluded to another move or two pending in terms of finalizing his coaching staff, but the staff should be nearly complete at this point. Brown’s lead assistant, Jordi Fernandez, is currently coaching the Kings in the California Classic. The staff also includes Jay Triano, Luke Louks, and Doug Christie.
Since joining the Kings as head coach, Brown has assembled a coaching staff with a wealth of experience and with whom Brown had previously working relationships. Barbosa continues that trend, and brings championship experience as both a player and as a player development coach.

Brazilian Blur in da’ Kingdom!
I feel like the Kings have the most assistant coaches in years. I think there are more assistant coaches this year than there have been head coaches for the Kings over the last 15 years…and that is saying something.
Here’s the list of Kings staff last year from basketball-ref:

I honestly wonder if it is because Brown was forced to keep Christie and Hines?
Maybe Brown agreed but got a caveat in the deal that gave him free reign in hiring coaches he actually wants?
It felt like Joerger had a lot more asst. coaches than Brown.
He might have?
At least he is rebuilding the majority of the coaching staff. I am sure Christie and Hines are serviceable coaches but they also come as part of the losing package.
Meanwhile the Kings have poached another assistant, this time from the Jazz:
